It’s funny how going 20 mph is considered ripping now 😀

its more about the acceleration and cornering rather than straitline speed

September 24, 2021 at 4:14 pm
@JogBird I know but I have been riding motorcycles for the past 25 years so 20 mph is not very exciting to me 😉 Different applications but still I would rather buy a 125 cc pocket rocket for ripping around.

the lighter weight makes it more compatible with many rear trailer hitch bike racks that have a 60+ pound weight capacity but at the expense of the missing bike features.
too bad e-bikes like these are generally 10 to 20lbs above the recommended rear bike rack capacities.

Lol exactly making people more lazy to pedal.

September 25, 2021 at 7:14 pm
There are many heavy/older riders that can get mobile using an eBike instead of a TV, park bench or game system. Commuting on a ebike that has Torque sensing pedal assist is far healthier than public or car transportation. I can not believe how many eBike users depend on the throttle instead of pedal assist passing me as I pedal to work on my eBike.

@S V aren’t there restrictions in certain states if you want to go over 28 mph? 🤔
JR Namida
September 25, 2021 at 7:24 pm
20 miles an hour is too fast commuting to and from work in city traffic in my opinion. I average about 12/14 miles mph on the road bike, or eBike and have avoided the right hook crash/death numerous times being alert and visible. At 20/28 mph it is very difficult to stop quickly on a bicycle riding on wet pavement, a very loud motorcycle is safer in my opinion…

Never over night. Alarm, gps and three locks minimum. Still something can get destroyed out of jealousy so never leave it alone.

September 25, 2021 at 7:04 pm
Never leave your eBike on the street, or in common bike rooms, it will disappear quickly as eBike theft rates are going through the roof. Secure Garages are not the answer either unless you have them alarmed. Bring your eBike into your living space to keep them, and if your your living space (condo) is upstairs weight becomes a very important eBike purchasing consideration.

Liking the price coming down on these e-bikes. It is strange to see a chain, versus a belt drive, I don’t have any real reasoning behind that, other than a chain just seems problematic compared to a belt. At minimum there should be a suspension seat of sorts to help the ride quality, but that’s not a deal breaker for me.

They would have had to put a split in the frame to use a Gates belt, which would have driven up the cost I suspect. Coast Cycles, the OG of this style of bikes has a couple models with a Gates option if someone really wanted that drivetrain, so options exists elsewhere, but the price point is considerably more.

September 25, 2021 at 8:01 pm
@John Fretz I just looked at my KBO Stealth Urban Hurricane, the frame split is hidden, looks very similar to a replaceable derailleur hanger arrangement, but that would be a engineered build/design change to a normal bicycle frame manufacture. Looks like a 50 cent material cost, with one more cnc threaded hole and extra bolt.

Our “Lil Burro” Enduro comes with a 48v 20AH battery, 500w motor(upgradeable), full suspension and only $1999. Bike seats by default, moto style available. Add the optional 29AH and get 90+ miles on a charge! Time for affordable, everyday electric transportation.

My 32 pound KBO Stealth Hurricane goes almost 50 miles with a 9.73 Ah battery at half the price. Great commuter eBike, or lots of fun on the weekends. It can also be carried up and down stairs quite easily.

For the same price, an Ariel Rider has a way better value. Hydraulic brakes, lights, range, power, speed and all wheel drive. It’s hard for Super to compete at their prices, thus why they are trying to tailor to Euro markets now.
Edit: oh and suspensions comes with the Ariel as well.

Bought one and then got rid of it for two reasons. First I found i was getting about 25% less range than advertised. Then, it doesn’t come with any accessories – most importantly lights. Which I understood when buying it, but they’re all listed on the product page as “sold separately,” so I figured I’d pick them up later. After months of trying to get Super73 to tell me where/when these promised accessories would be available, with absolutely no information or help, I gave up and sold it. Now drooling over all the other, more complete, longer range options out there for just a couple hundred bucks more. I was bummed, I wanted to stick with this thing for a few years and build it out, it was a super fun ride and I love the look, but just felt pretty disillusioned with how Super73 was addressing the issues. I assume it’s a supply chain problem that’s keeping them getting these accessories stocked? If you check out their EU website, the stock ZX actually comes with lights. But they just kept saying, ‘oh, you just misunderstood, they might be available someday but we never said they would be.’ Oh, got it, nice, thanks.

Yes I was disappointed in this eBike review, I believe any ebike is better with an adjustable saddle height for proper leg extension while pedaling, and with the weight under 34 pounds, so it can be carried up and down stairs. With eBike theft rate climbing to the top of desirability for quick cash, even secure garages are becoming similar to theft prone community bike rooms making it a requirement to store your electric bicycle inside your living space.

I like the design of the ZX, and the Super73 community is second to none. I’m glad that it’s light weight, but the lack of suspension, fenders, light, AND gears make it seem rather stripped down.

Do they come in various sizes, because the one you’re on seems rather small for you? If I’m going to be paying upwards of $2600 CAD for an e-bike I damn well better not be dragging my knees on the pavement because of my large frame.
