He is not a pseudoscientist. The difference between a scientist and a pseudoscientist is in how they apply the science method. A fringe theory is still a scientific theory if it follows the scientific method, which he does.

Who said string theory is pseudoscience? It’s not. It’s just a fringe theory that’s become less and less accepted over time.

Yeah and there’s not really an issue with doing that either. Different perspectives find different problems and ways to look at them, it’s one of the best ways to learn about a topic

I’ll preface this by saying I am a layman with an interest in astrophysics. imo string theory is a desperate ploy by mainstream physicists to maintain their funding by pushing a severely flawed theory while the try to survive the current drought in terms of remarkable breakthroughs in physics. Recently advances in engineering have raised doubts about many widely accepted theories. we have seen more ideas proven false than we have seen new theories validated. The UAP phenomenon has caused many eyes to turn to the science community and as of yet no solid answers have risen. Sometimes scientific advances come in the form if learning what you don’t know as opposed to learning new things. The people who fund research don’t care about that. The $ men want 1. new battery tech 2. non combustion propulsion 3. fusion (real fusion )
string theory is dependent upon so many unfalsifiable factors that it can stall pressure for a long time. I sincerely hope that physicists get the $ they deserve in the coming years. We are always in a race, how fast can we solve the problems we create before they kill us. Science is our ultimate weapon I that war.

    September 27, 2023 at 9:34 pm

If this is the case why don’t they just teach it like this to begin with instead of confusing people with dots 😭

    • Aryaveer Banga

      September 28, 2023 at 3:05 pm

Because we don’t really know if they are, its just a theory.

    • Victoria Vejnoe Lund

      September 29, 2023 at 3:02 pm

@Aryaveer Banga Yes that is true, although in science ‘theory’ refers to something that has proof and plausibility backing it without being a fully proven fact. The normal use of theory would actually be a ‘hypothesis’.

    • Aryaveer Banga

      September 29, 2023 at 4:06 pm

@Victoria Vejnoe Lund Well, while you are right we need to call it a theory even if it is not. This is because it is the only “hypothesis” that can combine all our laws, or more popular known as “the theory of everything”.

    • Victoria Vejnoe Lund

      September 29, 2023 at 4:10 pm

@Aryaveer Banga Oh, well then i learned something new today, thanks!

    • Aryaveer Banga

      September 29, 2023 at 4:48 pm

@Victoria Vejnoe Lund Thank you too, I didn’t know that the string theory didn’t have any evidence before, I mean I knew what I told you but I also thought that there must be atleast some evidence.

    • Tommy Hansen

      September 28, 2023 at 12:27 am

There aren’t many ways of illustrating how fields create particles and the math of micro interactions often involves having 3d planes interacting with many others(i don’t know all the terminologies/names) and reverberations between these are what they think is the key.

    • Simone Caporali

      September 28, 2023 at 7:16 am

Actually, just like any other theory of everything, the problem is they can’t find a way to either prove or disprove the theory, so you can’t really know anything until they figure out how to test it. Mathematically is promising.

    • Tommy Hansen

      September 28, 2023 at 5:22 pm

@Simone Caporali Yes that is true but hard to swallow, string theory works so well but real life is not mathematical perfection. Am currently studying physics and i hope ill get to study string theory even if im not doing great now

String theory is much more heavily debated now than it was in Kaku’s heyday. I’d recommend those interested do a quick google search to look up prevailing theories pertaining to quantum theory because string theory ain’t holding weight so heavy nowadays.

Most geniuses are surprisingly bad at communication. Not Michio. I could literally listen to him all day. And I’d argue true mastery of a subject is only achieved when you not only understand it but can explain it to people outside of your field.
