      @@quiggles Yes, because they knew it was a 50/50 change it wouldn’t return as planned and land as normal. I guess you didn’t watch the video. Halfway through the flight they figured out they couldn’t make the preferred location for landing. So they had no choice but to drop it in the ocean. Somewhat controlled

      They are trying to get to the moon for less than the 100’s of billions of dollars (in 2024 dollars) it cost in the 1060s. NASAs budget was astronomical for a decade or more during the 1960s and early 70s, and between that and Vietnam spending the US fell into a huge inflationary cycle which lasted for another 20+ years
