      lol I don’t think you’re supposed like it, it’s meant to help you find it, higher pitch easier to hear when its covered up by something

      “Actually” 😅 The nerdy and correct answer is: the decibel scale is logarithmic, not linear. In psychoacoustics (the study of how humans perceive sound), a 10 dB increase is generally heard as a doubling of loudness. Since the difference here is 10.2 dB, the new AirTag sounds more than twice as loud as the old one to the human ear.

      Side note: I actually thought a 4 dB increase was a doubling, but here are the general rules used in audio:

      ​- Sound Energy (Physics): Every 3 dB increase doubles the actual sound power.

      – Perceived Loudness (What we hear): It takes a ~10 dB increase for the human ear to perceive the sound as being twice as loud.
