I’m a tablet nerd. I’ve owned several Samsung tablets over the years. My primary entertainment is youtube and I love to watch it on my tablet. Recently this year bought a Tab S4 with the keyboard/case. I love it. I can sit in my recliner and type away, it’s a great keyboard. It also came with a stylus that I don’t use at all. I used Dex for a while but switched back to regular mode just because it was easier for me but I like dex. I’ve used dex on my TV and it’s awesome. I would love to get the Tab S7 or S7+ some day. I love the new keyboard with the touch pad. I bought a foldable bluetooth keyboard that I’ve used with my S8+ and it gives you a mouse icon. I used it with my tablet and love the touch pad with the mouse icon. So needless to say I would love to get this tablet. I’m always a year or two behind though on my purchases. It’s just a matter of trying to be frugal and being happy with what you have. But some day the Tab S4 will break or get old and I will probably purchase the Tab S7 or S7+. I really like the Xbox control feature because we have an Xbox. I think tablets are becoming the new laptop they are very useful and are starting to become more powerful. Good stuff I like your take on it thanks for sharing.
Samsung shouldn’t have dropped the linux for dex support and should have gone all in. That would have made it as proper competitor to the Windows Surface and Ipad Pro as laptop replacement…
Wow Finally My Wish Come True!!! I Will PreOrder 2 Units of this 12.4inch Cute Sexy Tablet, for Substituting My Old Samsung Note Pro 12.2 2014 Edition!!! This is Chance because there is no Big Screen Android Tablet Nowadays!!! Thank You Very Much Samsung Yay 🙌🙌🙌
I don’t get it I’ve been using android tablets for a long time now and every time I try an ipad I don’t understand why people keep saying it’s better, maybe some specific apps but in general, android is at least as good.
@Levi Guyan this tablet has all that and more. Dex is really underrated. I have a tab s3 and my wife has an ipad pro the pen latency difference is noticeable but only if you look for it, not so much in real life use.
I really like samsung products from smartphone to tablets but the only downside for me is software updates its just for two years and it gets really slow after a while (its not the processor fault but software)
Too bad a lot of apps are not optimized for android tablets. This would beat ipad pro but the only reason it doesn’t is because of the lack of optimization for android tablets.
How did you make it this far in life, work at a reputed tech news site and type like an infant? Learn your home rows. It’s not hard and you’ll type 10 times faster while not looking incompetent.
why would you need a tablet to work from home ? that’s idiotic. tablets are to consume media while lounging around. everybody has an old computer for getting work done. i’m not knocking Samsung i’m knocking CNET. the tablet looks great – i have no intention of using DEX, keyboard or even the S-Pen but i don’t mind having them there.
My last Android tablet was the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and since then I made my way to Chromebooks. I haven’t thought of going back since Google Play apps are now available on Chromebooks. Not gonna lie though, I’m really tempted on picking up the Tab S 7+.

Apple Pencil latency? 120Hz? Magic Keyboard? A12X processor? Overall iOS experience? How does an android tablet come close. I hated mine.

Review tablet computers as tablets, NOT laptops or laptop replacement.
the focus on the “laptop replacement” narrative should be dropped from tablet reviews / discussions.
3:10 not really, most tablet buyers (outside the tech bubble) use the pen accessories more than the keyboard.
