The interesting question is do you want add your TV viewing habits to the list of things Google already knows about you or you want to have 2 remotes?

Let them have the data, do you not think every company has every piece of data on you that there is possible to have? We have lost, privacy is over, just get used to it or move into the woods with a tent

it does control volume. you can also choose should the volume buttons control external sound bar volume or the TV volume etc.

@Rushabh Shah. Used to be in software though which is a more elegant solution. (At least for us)

Does Roku control more than one T.V. do I need a Roku for every T.V.?

Let’s not forget how Roku frequently disputes with YouTube over availability

So does google, in fact Chromecast didn’t have Amazon services for the longest time due to a years long dispute

I have a Roku stick and it controls my TV streaming (on, off, volume, mute….) and I am extremely happy with it.

bought Chromecast already extremely happy with it. no hassle no issue extremely easy to use just with one remote and always suggests best recommendation above all it gives me content which will be on different Ott platforms all on one page. I don’t need to separately select different Ott platforms and search for content. 🤘🏻

Google remote does not control all tvs… And roku has a way better search system and menu. Plus it’s cheaper

There are multiple versions of the Roku available, some come with the Roku only remote, some that control the tv power and audio, and the highest tier that has the rechargeable battery and headphone jack.

They could do with dropping the most basic remote but to act like it’s the only one they offer is a bit disingenuous.

I have a Roku ultra and Fire stick 4k+.
Of the two I prefer Roku.
I still haven’t tried Google tv.

Wrong information. Roku remote can very well control TV

That is not accurate. You DO NOT need both remotes with Roku. You obviously are not an ‘expert’ nor know what you are talking about.

People jail break the Fire Stick to side load apps. Roku, I don’t think there is an easy way to load unsupported apps. With Chromecast TV, there is a limitless amount of apps you can install. Even ones that people jail break for, are available. This means you can literally stream anything!

The remote for the Roku stick and the Roku Ultra can both control the TV. Almost every Roku review says to at least go to the streaming stick and to skip the Express.
