i dont get these bikes, you cant adjust the seat and theres a gaping hole in the middle for no reason

Plus it defeats the exercise purposes of biking

The middle is for a storage container which is an $100 extra add on.

just ditch the pedal, and put a platform to place your feet instead.
there are no place where you can relax your feet.
just be a full motor electric bike.
if i want to ride a bike, i buy a bike, and not an e-bike that confuse about which mode that they want to be.
Jensen Raylight
April 15, 2023 at 11:23 am
@NextNate03 then, just give people the option to hide or detach the pedal,
or at least design a new pedal that let you pedal in a relaxed position.
that way, the bike is still considered a bike and not a moped
NextNate03
April 15, 2023 at 12:11 pm
If you detached the pedals, it not a E-Bike anymore.
Hide pedals might be a whole new issue with law enforcement.
As for redesigning the pedals. They could do it.
There are other similar E-Bike options.
I had riding the Juiced Bikes Hyper Scrabbler 2 a while back, I am 5 ft 11, I can use the pedals just fine.
Did you see their Segway review?
How would they redesign the pedals for a E-Bike that looks like a Moped/Scooter?
There are other options out there.

@NextNate03 i don’t know, maybe create a flatter pedal kinda like car pedal
just imagine, you’re step on a car like pedal, left, right, left, right,
and it allow you to move forward.
therefore you can put your leg in straight position,
booth of your feet are at the same height level
and not opposing each other like using a normal bike pedal
i know that a shallow pedal like car pedal won’t be able to generate enough energy to accelerate a bike forward.
but maybe assist it with electric motor.
or i don’t know, maybe someone can invent a new effective way to accelerate forward with only shallow pedal
because that pedal is the only thing that get in the way of e-bike.
it’s just uncomfortable resting your leg in that unnatural position

It seems like that they are trying to compete with Juiced Bikes.
They are very similar and they been doing very well for the last 5+ years.

Weird product.
In Europe, e-bike MUST be pedal assisted only, you can’t use just the throttle to go around, because at that point you are using a moped or an electric motorcycle with cosmetic pedals, and this means you need a plate, a license and insurance since it’s a vehicle and not more a bike (rightful so).
RedFury03
April 15, 2023 at 8:58 am
That’s exactly the point. They get around those requirements on a technicality.
PED Garage
April 15, 2023 at 9:02 am
@RedFury03 They don’t.
If it can go without pedaling it’s outlaw. Fines are up to 3/4.000€.

Some countries take a while to catch up with others.
UK recently (about a year or 2 ago) had un banned scooters to use on public roads.
In some cases, it’s takes the USA a very long time to catch up with other countries.
USA still doesn’t have Universal/Public Healthcare.

April 15, 2023 at 8:57 am
This isn’t a bike. It’s an electric moped. Peddling is barely an afterthought. Any ebike with a throttle is an electric moped. They should come with a proper motorcycle helmet.

My question is can I ride this without a motorcycle license in California?
NextNate03
April 15, 2023 at 11:08 am
No bikes, mopeds, motorcycles, or any personal transportation has ever came with a helmet.
For the other person.
You don’t need a motorcycle license.
If you are planning to ride without the bike pedals, you might need a special license. My question is that do you need a special license for a 49/50cc Moped?
If you do, yes. That is if you are planning to ride without bike pedals.

You don’t need a Moped or a Motorcycle license to use with an E-Bike.
Don’t need to register it with DMV.
Don’t need to take a motorcycle class. (Required in California)
Don’t need gas (assuming that the BMW us non-electric).
No property taxes.
Don’t have to get insurance.
Could take on public transportation.
Depending on the businesses, you could take it inside.
More areas to park.
Don’t have to pay for parking.
BMW.
Can’t take on public transportation.
Can’t ride on bike trails or lanes.
Can’t do wheelies.
Can’t take it into businesses.
Less areas to park.
Pay for parking (in areas that user have paid parking).
If you add all that up, that E-Bike is cheaper to use/own.

Yes you can.
Of course it depends on which e-bike.
Edit:
Now I am thinking about it, all E-Bikes has *unlimited* range.

I have over 100 miles on mine within two weeks. How practical is fun? This type of emobility provides a low maintenance (judging from my numerous other e-bikes), less noisy, less smelly and messy scrambler motorcycle type experience. What’s that worth to you?

The turn signals seems like not bright enough in the video to get the job by getting other vehicles to notice it.
I know Juiced Bikes turn signals get bright enough.

@NextNate03depends on priorities, If it were one or the other id rather have something that I can overtake traffic in, and not limited to range and not be sidelined with charging taking the spontaneity out of riding. The downhill mountain bikes that allow you to climb really far and then ride. Downhill mountain biking is a great concept and use case for having the electric and still actually being able to pedal it sans electric, however, those are incredibly expensive and likey decline in value fast due to proprietary parts.
NextNate03
April 17, 2023 at 9:06 am
You can overtake traffic in any E-Bikes. Of course depending on the traffic and E-Bikes.
There are E-Bikes that can go even faster than the CNET video, 45 to 60+ MPH.
Range.
I’ve seen some E-Bikes that has a range of 250-300+ miles.
Technically, all E-Bikes has unlimited range.
Charging.
You could hot-swap the batteries faster then you could fill your motorcycle up with gas.
Everything is going electric including motorcycles.
Companies has been making electric motorcycles for years.
Longevity.
You get what you paid for.
All or most E-Bikes uses universal parts that you could find online.

@NextNate03 yeah but I’m sure they’re untouchable for most people. I do love the instant torque of electric especially on those trial style bikes to overcome obstacles and popping off little things to get air. That’s an experience that’s unique in itself

A 7-year-old and a 19-year-old were killed in a house fire Monday that officials said was caused by an e-bike battery.
The fire began on the first-floor vestibule of an Astoria, Queens, apartment building located on 46th Street and quickly spread to the second floor, where a man and his six children lived, according to local news outlet WNBC.
Aided by multiple neighbors, the father was able to escape with several of his children after climbing through a second-story window.

It depends on your needs in regards to how practical this bike will be. If you live in the city and have a 6 to 7 mile commute and have space for it this bike is a game changer. No registration no insurance no need for an M class license. This bike could be a great cheap city commuter it can easily keep up with city traffic would be cheap to own/maintain and I think it’s definitely worth the cost considering the performance you’re getting.

Wow, what a terrible review. Not everyone is in your situation in a small apartment. There are plenty of positive reviews of this bike including daily commuting. The weight is not excessive being a full suspension moped style bike. All e-bikes can be pedalled away without the battery. Perhaps if you did better reviews, CNET would pay you more an you would not need the ebike to contribute to your rent.

@NextNate03 another poster below interestingly points out the EU requires bikes to be pedal assisted to qualify for tax breaks. Otherwise they are just treated as electric bikes and require registration and taxes.

In 2022, e-bikes were responsible for an estimated 220 fires, up more than 100% year-over-year, and six deaths, according to the New York Fire Department (FDNY). Already this year, there have been 59 fires, more than three dozen injuries and five deaths in New York City as a result of e-bike battery fires.

“Not Super Practical” (part of the title)
Sounds about right.
It depends on the person.
Good majority of the people are living in similar situations as he his, especially in big cities.
Owning or even renting a house is more of a luxury now days.
EDIT:
Research show 65% of people owns a home and 35% rents.
Again, it depends on the person and location.
Owning a home is more of a luxury now days.
In big cities, they cost to much. Smaller cities like Kansas City or St. Louis, same thing.
Sure, they get more affordable the more farther out of the city you go. If you do that, the more car centric the places gets, you have to drive everywhere.
Smaller cities or towns?
Depends.
I seen and lived in places that has nothing in them except for a gas station, and/or the stores are no longer around (if they have a downtown shopping area)
You would still need to drive everywhere.
There cities they have everything that you need and would be fine walking or riding.
There are also parts of the country that they do have most of the things in town, most of the population is poor. Most of the towns around that main town has the same problems and/or has nothing in them.
You would have to drive 30 to 60+ miles to get stuff.
2ND EDIT:
It might be perfect for you, it might not be perfect for somebody else.
