Rabbit’s r1, a handheld AI-powered assistant, took CES 2024 by storm, selling out two initial waves of 10,000 units in just two days after it became one of the most talked-out devices of the event. With the r1 starting to be shipped out March 31 and 100,000 units already preordered, Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu joined TechCrunch Senior Writer Devin Coldewey to talk about the device’s creation, how it operates and what’s next for the Rabbit team.

If you want another early look at the Rabbit in action, and are curious how its promise of supporting “large action models” actually works, look no further.

Fucking A man. Jesse stay humble, you’ll find great success. And with people all over the world respecting you and admiring you man. Apple and Google had their chance. Apple and all their hardware are only good for two things shit battery life and as door stoppers. Google lost everyone’s support and trust with all the privacy invasion.

This interviewer was a really cringe dude. Feel bad for these tech folks who have to tolerate off putting interviewers. It’s one thing to have to communicate your ideas, but to have to do that with someone kind of slow to understand constantly interrupting and misinterpreting you is another level of difficulty.

Good questions. But in all honesty this interviewer was kind of a jerk. And just because Jesse is sort of an unknown. He wouldn’t have grilled someone like Tim Cook the same way. Hate the double standard.

“I can’t remember if I interrupted you or not, so we’re just going to move on”.

      Dude…

Hardest part of deciding to buy one was whether or not I could trust that the company actually has a goal. This Jesse bloke seems super real and honest, not advertising or parading bold promises. Ordered one and excited to see what I can do with it.
