In an uproarious stand-up set, comedian Pardis Parker rails against a central tenet of modern culture: the “grind.”

I used to work 65+ hrs a week for an 18hr teaching contract alongside a 14 hr learning support job. That’s 32 paid hrs a week but I used to put in shifts of regularly over 65hrs.
Take into consideration I had no extra work to do for the learning support job- all the extra work was for the teaching job alone. So that was 33 hrs of unpaid work for an 18hr teaching contract. Insanity.
I would never ever agree nor allow myself to work like that again. Horrific management.
And this happened in the UK by the way….an insight into the state of affairs in UK education in the last couple decades

I work in education as well and frequently hear stories like this, there seems to be a really disproportionate perspective on how long tasks in education actually take to complete. Every teacher I know, does things like marking exams and preparing lessons in their spare time.

Ohhhhhh!!! Ohhh!!! If only I had a billion dollars …… to give to Pardis Parker so …. so he could give back ….. to the comedians of the world! This is such a great bit – it killed me. Love how you draw it out too- that look at the audience, brilliant. Well done! Was it infinitely satisfying to say for real ‘thank you for coming to my Ted Talk”?

If you’ve enjoyed not only Pardis Parker’s jokes but also the message, I’d suggest reading the book “Bullshit jobs” by David Graeber. It has some thought-provoking ideas about the phenomenom of our obession with work.

I was expecting a talk on how grind causes burnout and how studios go bankrupt because the industry doesn’t pay for the amount of work and doesn’t need companies to be financially stable to exploit them. But this work too 😅

@James Bryant Can I know the platform or company that trades for you? Actually I’ve lost so much trying to trade on my own, looking for a professional to start my trade with I heard it’s profiting when you have a good broker or account manager

Magnificent person reading this… The truth is you are confident and good enough already with who you are, where you are at and what you have right now to have the success you want in life. Don’t let others define what “success” is for you. Get up, learn that skill and go after it! I believe in you so much! Have an awesome day! 🌟- Love, Nat ❤️

I am a Farmer(36),since 5 years, with a nice but not big income, i had a lot of cool tech jobs before, i have some stocks, i have the biggest garden in Town. But all the time my uncles come in, which are not realy rich or so, and telling me i have to the get a “real” job and GRIND like an idiot to get something for my aftercomings. They are all in pension and still had not figured out what happiness is and that it is far more important you like the work you do than have a zero more on the bank account.
