Nvidia’s latest Shield might be the Apple TV killer
Nvidia is releasing two versions of its enthusiast-favorite Shield streamers. They’re the best way to use Android TV and should be seriously considered by anyone who wants support for the latest in 4K, surround sound and HDR.

Nothing beats the UI on Apple TV, but if the smaller one was $100 or less, I would buy it.

How well does this play with media files stored on a hard drive either plugged into the pro by USB or streamed from a NAS device?

I literally got the hammer and smash the remote from my Nvidia shield to force me and buy a different. It was a wise move.

Is it worth the upgrade from the older more expensive 4K shield with the remote and controller? Or can I just buy the new shield remote and use it with my current one

I’ve read on other sites that the new remote can be used with older Shield TVs but Nvidia hasn’t started selling the remote separately yet.

The apple is good, when it works, but nvidia has the obligation being the biggest manufacturer of AI chips of coming up with a much better machine.

So no game controller included, thus making the Pro + controller £259.98, thats about $334.

I’m so tied up in Apple’s ecosystems (paid apps & movies) but I have had my eye on the Shield Tv with unique optimism!!
3 gigs of Ram on android sounds disappointing…

Apple was never on throne for Smart TVs imo, Shield set the bar high and Apple TV just dropped a mediocre device

The Nvidia Shield needs 64 GB just for Apps, ideally with an option for 64 GB + 1 TB out of the box. Yes obviously you can add external storage.

Wonder if it supports Ok Google with no controller present.
