Nintendo has not had the most powerful, most beautiful graphics in a very long time, but they have great, great games. That is not changing.

1080p is ok but 720p is too outdated and i dont think nintendo will do 4k cause no small gpu can handle 4k

At bare minimum if there is a refresh is that Nintendo could do involving internal hardware is to request Nvidia to port Tegra X1 variant of chip used in Switch to 7nm in order to increase clock of CPU and GPU along use LPDDR5X for system memory.

One thing that annoys me is that the joysticks are not on the same level. I would prefer them at the same level. Kind of like the PS controllers or the Wii U.

Honestly I have gotten the switch about three times 😂 am already tired of it need something more powerful like the steam deck that’s the switch pro that Nintendo never gave me

January 28, 2022 at 10:38 pm
My Switch 2 wishes:
– Updated Chip: Atleast the Power of the normal PS4 (Portable / undocked)
– Display: QD Oled 720p or maybe even 900p so get a bit more resolution but not too much for a mobile device
– Maybe a 120Hz display to get that faster latency
– Design wise, maybe even smaller bezels? The switch Oled is hard to improve design wise.
– Real Bluetooth Headphone functionality.
– State of the art WiFi Chip (like Wifi 7).
Dock
2 Docks as a option:
– a regular Dock that only uses the Power of the switch itself and probably only scales up to 1080p.
– a second 4K Dock for purchase with extra horsepower so the switch 2 can have graphics similar to PS5 or atleast PS4 Pro.

They’d need to improve on few things , internal main chip, and joycon issues, and resolution to 2k on handheld, and up to 4k via TV at least. But as most of us know, Nintendo isn’t going to release a new device until next year (2023)..

Much needed upgrades? Isn’t the OLED model a mostly marginal improvement? Doesn’t Nintendo have a patent on “switchable technology?”

Make all my digital switch games compatible for the next 2 generations and i’ll be happy. So that means the next switch and the other, Nintendo. Please make the right decision. All my digital Steam games are available to me even if they’re taken off the store. Keep note..

Nintendo keep focusing on affordable prices so there will be no significant upgrade for the chipset and hardware.

They should start with a home console that plays the same games. Release a cut down RTX 4060 based console with no built in storage (it could use cartridges and expandable storage like the Xbox Series X). No optical drive, no SSD, 16GB memory. It could be quite cheap like $400. It would play all your Switch games at 4k/60 or 120fps and build a new base of high performance third party game support, while continuing to sell the existing Switch. AFTER you get 20 million of those sold, then you release a Switch 2 that is also cross compatible with the new home console.

January 29, 2022 at 12:06 pm
two words: chip shortage. i always assumed the OLED model was SUPPOSED to be the switch 2, but in the end the chip shortage forced them to release it without updated graphics chip. which means it may be some time before they are confident in supply chain to actually give us a true updated model. AND it’s still selling well, so they are probably not in a hurry to figure it out.

How good games look is not important, its the gameplay that matters. I agree, the next Nintendo console needs more power. But power to make games play better, not look better. If you care so much about how games look, then you, sir, are not a proper gamer.

Switch 2? Not anytime soon. You need to chill with some switch games. Nintendo is doing great. There not in a dumb console war. The xbox series x and ps5 haven’t even brought anything to the table to make me even consider buying them. Also if you don’t like the joycon controller then get a pro controller for it dude.

Another 2 years still in it I reckon – especially with the chip shortage. They still have some big first party games to release, then they’ll do box set deals reduced in price to extend sales and to try harder for multiple sales per household.

A Switch 2 should have Full HD OLED 1080p min 90fps screen, run 1440p at 90fps or 120fps when docked, and consistent frame rates.

v2 switch plenty enough for a casual and group gamer. all they have was mario games that tend to get boring overtime. wished they had titles that would rival god of war or spiderman but i guess they wont have any of that level of games since they love using old chip

I think Nintendo should scrap the OLED. instead they could consult with other companies to get a better display than the switch currently has but not expensive as OLED.
For instance. LG’s nanocell or Samsung’s mini LCD. Like these display technologies are really good and work better in direct lights vs the OLED. And they can get 4k res.
Just not as good as the OLEDs or QLED. But still. Bang for the buck. This way Nintendo can still afford to get a more powerful chip. No one wants to pay $600 for a switch that still doesn’t support 4k and great processing.
And no one want to pay $300 for a new switch that doesn’t improve from the previous

HDR could make a huge difference because most high end tvs have that and only an hdmi 2.0 port could be enough. The handheld HDR would be expensive tho…

I still don’t get why people así for “hardcore gaming” specs when Nintendo has said many times that that’s not where they want to go with their devices. They are not going nowhere near Sony specs. It’s pretty clear by now .

The lack in performance of the switch is why a lot of game developers simply gave it up…..I’d rather get my phone a controller….

Do you think maybe Apple could make a case with controls at the Top and Bottom of it which can transform the IPhone into a switch like Handheld gaming device. Only problem is you’d need Apple to invest more into growing their gaming department and growing customers

“if they made a dock that didn’t rely on the switch” you mean a traditional console and you would lose the portability factor of what made the switch so successful. Does CNET purposely hire people that don’t understand the topics they discuss? Are the articles peer reviewed by morons?
To improve the dock they could add active cooling and cooling vents that open only when docked and throttle the performance for better energy efficiency when undocked. Logically this is their best move. Don’t expect a 4k capable “switch” anytime soon without a massive price tag and horrible battery life, 1080p will be their sweet spot for portable gaming for the next 5 years and potentially render at 1440p when docked. Active cooling would make this easier for them to achieve, preferably with the fans built into the dock rather than the console itself for repairability and keeping down the cost of replacing an entire unit due to a failing fan as most consumers would do.
Sorry ignore my blabbering just someone with a functioning brain here with a legitimate understanding of the technology that goes in to PC’s/phones/consoles…
I know Nvidia recently cut the cord on producing the chips that are in the Nintendo switch and it is likely Nvidia is “strong arming” them to release a better performing product as the performance of the Switch in 2022 damages Nvidia’s reputation for some of the best performing hardware on the market, and they have made ALOT of innovations in energy efficiency since the release of the switch meaning better quality/performance with similar battery life.

Nintendos whole goal is to use the cheaper tech available to put games into the hands of many. And give a good experience with software and fun games. I like the oled premium switch

All I want is a better CPU, GPU, and more RAM. The Joycons are fine for me and ive never experienced any “drift”. I only use the Pro Controller in TV mode and only play handheld mode when I’m traveling which is mostly once a year.

I’d really like to see improved graphics, aimed towards open world games, one thing I have noticed with the few open world games that are on the switch (legends Arceus) is the render distance isn’t great at all. I would really want to see a system that can really populate a world, rather than the pretty empty landscapes we have. I am absolutely in love with legends Arceus though.

the switch is slower than an iphone 6. idc how hipster nintendo is we need better hardware. it doesn’t necessarily even need to run at high resolutions better hardware also means better power efficiency like battery life.

I don’t think there will be a second one..I think they’ll make a console a little less powerful than ps5 and put nvidia hardware so you can stream the new games on the old switch
