I had a photography teacher that, on the first day, said āthe camera was meant to capture a moment in timeā¦ by editing a photo you alter realityā¦ whatever you capture, was meant to be captured by you at that time, as it isā¦ā š¤Æ

Samsung should definitely take the whole crop and share feature from iPhone and Apple should have a Magic Eraser on their phones.

A photo can be used for fun but also for facts. Itās important that somewhere we can see that the photo is altered for example in the metadata

There is no need for this there is already image analysis that can detect image manipulation artefacts thatās used in the case of law

Question about these features ā since itās computational/AI, that means itās not just photos taken by the devices in-hand, right? So I could take an old photo (even scanned from pre-cell phone days) and these features would still work?

In theory, yes. Itās supposed to work on any photo with a clear subject.

Iām an iOS user. If given the choice I would probably prefer Magic Eraser. Perhaps I will fall in love with the cut out tool when I get iOS16.

I just donāt see why not have both of this photo editing features in ether platforms. We the people want all this features ether on iPhone or Google etc

Too weird. So letās say there was an important meeting and you want to suggest someone didnāt even show up for said meeting. Deceptive yes. Dangerous? But I will use the feature anyway. It looks fun!

It would be handy to have both tools on the same phone. Perhaps there is a way to do both on each operating system using an app.

I mean youāre pitting 4 Apple phones released a year versus thousands of Android phones released each year. Apple isnāt claiming to be the first with this feature, itās just added to their OS now

Snapchat has been doing what that new apple feature does, just apple does it better and automatically, in snapchat you have to do it manually.

Im loving these features coming to phones. DSLRās are for sure disappearing but not completely just yet. I do love these features, however, the more features like these are available to the mass, the more the eye will see fakes without even knowing it.

Apple live visual thing is a half of a feature to me because i donāt think i will use it too much compared to the healing brush that i use frequently to retouch a selfie or some distractions in a photo in apps like photoshop and snapseed. I really think it would super pass google magic eraser if apple just made it possible this year.

People are and have been years far to fixated on photos. Itās superficial, shallow and absurd. A couple of pictures to recall a meaningful event are fine, but pics for the sake of manipulation are evil narcissism.

4:25 Ethics is only there to hold back progress! People argue whether a solution is ethical or not while people are suffering and thatās unethical. The best example is the ethical argument about dissecting the human body in the middle ages out of religious fear but to this day countless lives have been saved and improved by surgery.
