This video is 🏆. What are people on the internet watching 🤔 that this video isn’t trending yet?

This is way too big and way too expensive. Also, a magnetic connector is a horrible idea. It’s so much easier to steal and who knows if really strong winds would blow it off. I’ll wait for the 2.0 version and see what they come up with. This one is a hard pass for me.

I have been using the mag connectors on the original outdoor cameras for years. Even with 60+ knot gusts in Vegas, that is NO problem. Now, vandals stealing low hanging fruit – that could be an issue. Mount it higher?

Lower resolution, no compatibility with the nest app, less weather proofing, more susceptible to theft, cheaper materials
…this is several step backwards all for the sake of a slightly lower “entry” price (if you don’t buy all the accessories). Hard pass 😒

Why does this video seem like a rigmarole way of saying “yadda yadda yadda!”?

I was one of the first to have the outdoor nest cam cameras and been super happy with it but when they took up their subscription to £10 a month I moved to eufy. Free local storage and 2k. You can’t go wrong.

August 24, 2021 at 8:11 pm
I did the same, but missed the 24/7 recording 😭
Alex
August 24, 2021 at 8:22 pm
@Fowzie Smith-Tahir eufy has 24/7 recording.
Nest software is very good I must say

@Alex we have the local storage one too but only picks up motion and records, we much prefer how the nest allowed for uninterrupted 24/7 recording which you can scrub through… something I wish the eufy did.

I understand 24/7 video is a tough draw on battery dependent devices, but if I’m plugging in I would like the option. This makes the new lineup worse than the previous generation. Still Google Search has never been slapped with an outage in my experience so at least I can depend on these devices staying online

I read that plugged in the new one does do 24/7. So that makes it the same as the old outdoor model.

Here is why this is an incomplete review. You failed to mention they downgraded the specs on all cameras in favor of using their new in house “tensor ” chip. They are claiming that it will use AI to improve video quality, object identification, and that it would send less information to the cloud in turn faster alerts and reduce false positive alerts. Thats the real story I would have liked answered. BTW IF TRUE, then it would void half your review in comparing it to other cams with better specs and price. *face palm*

A Nest camera without 24/7 recording is useless for me. That’s literally the only reason I use Nest instead of Ring right now.

You use nest for 24/7 recording? How do you pull the recordings off the nest service? I tried to do this and could only do it via the Web interface, through an extremely cumbersome process.

My pair arrived today, but, you’re saying they’re not weatherproof, but it’s their “outdoor” one? I just wasted a few hundred dollars if that’s the case.

Yeah–what?? I was considering mounting above my garage door, but I live in FLORIDA. Is it weatherproof or not? They should call in Indoor/Shade model then.

It loses 3% battery every two hours, and I have to mount it in a high enough or inaccessible enough place that people won’t steal it? Sounds like a pain in the ass to take it down to charge.

Ouch… A little unprofessional for onscreen talent to give their producer so much grief. Without the producer’s decision, you’d have less useful data to share now.

Hey there. I was the Video Producer on this video. It was my idea for her to throw me under the bus like that. I literally did say “it’ll be fine” and it definitely wasn’t. Lesson learned. Gotta own your mistakes, my dude.

Is the battery inside the camera itself?

I just bought a 4k camera with motorised pan, tilt and 30x optical zoom, and colour night vision down to 0.0005 lux for £300. Powers from poe and records to a NAS.
The Nest camera this replaced is going in the bin

“Event storage” is garbage! None of these cameras reliably trigger all motion, nor is motion the only thing you might want to review. 24hr/7 recording history is the only option that makes cameras worthwhile, and I only still have that because I haven’t allowed them to transition my Google account to Nest. (Or was it vice versa…) 😠

Google is good but it’s a bit overpriced when there are plenty of other options out there. With the new doorbell and this device it doesn’t seem like they didn’t think about theft. You’ll be recording someone stealing the camera and doorbell.
