Wow, if this was done in 4 months than Tesla’s Optimus robot looks like crap.

Loving all the innovation in the humanoid robotics world lately. But they need to price this at around $10,000 to make it for a while for the masses.

Are they going to add GPT3 / GPT4 or some other LLM into the robot?

it’s crazy how far ahead boston dynamics are in this field

I would disagree to that opinion, because Boston Dynamics Atlas robots work with hydraulics, which seems to be more agile at the moment, but it is also more error prone, because the system has very often hydraulics failures, ending in fatal crashes of the robots.
A system build on electric motors is much more reliable.
Also Atlas is a “dumb robot” which is preprogrammed and which is NOT capable of doing tasks on his own decisions, although Boston Dynmamics are working on robots since founded in 1992. Their software is not even close to Teslas humanoid Robot Optimus which is still in alpha development status and which is using the same software platform as their Full Self Driving Tesla vehicles. Coprrect recognition of the surrounding and navigation through that obstacles and objects and successfully manipulating objects in such areas is a very hard task for each robot manufacturing company. Time will show who is more succesfull. Probably in a few years we will be able to compare them better.

2:50 they used a valve index to control the robot lol. Now the only people that can use it are gamers with taste.

LOL at NASA. Tesla already got beat ’em with their spandex robot, and that thing can dance.

I’ve seen the ARTEMIS robots in person down at NASA’s Houston center. That thing is way more versatile than this.

Under a hundred thousand US Dollars !?
Then again, only the rich people will be able to buy one.
Tesla Optimus hopefully will be much cheaper as Elon Musk said.
Time will tell who is going to be more affordable and which robot is more capable of doing tasks in households, factories, restaurants, etc.

Ah yes….money well spent because of course humanity needs this! OR maybe money can be spent on more important world problems.

That depends on the price of the robot and the manufacturing of the robot for people at home or a care centre, robot has to be robust in dynamic mobility and encounter every obstacle on the floor from lego to medication to cups or dishes dropped at home, the robot also needs to understand commands and also the joke here is Moores Laws, other than that the robot needs to figure out solutions to a problem and have the ability to go around it or cut through it or in computing term bypassing.

Forget about Tesla Optimus. It can barely walk. Agility Robotics can run and grab boxes. It is less bulky than Boston Dynamic humanoid robots. It is a winner.

The more the merrier. The greater the exposure to developers and end users the faster this field matures. We’ll need one as we age into decrepitude.

This robot has no consciousness, it does not perform psychological work, it has no sense organs, it is not a subject. If he is carried into outer space, he will not even realize it, because there is nothing..

Well I’m still more impressed with Tesla since they have more experience with cars and not much smaller things and optimus is also an AI platform It had to learn how to walk and they didn’t get NASA to help them.
