One downside is the chain maintenance. Consider paying a little more for an eBike with a Carbon Belt Drive (No messy dirty chain and derailleur to clean) 😀

For me, life really changed over the last 12 months, got laid off, got lymphoma cancer, my dog died, got more chemo and stem cell transplant, my brother died, but I kept strong , got an ebike, and it got me going up hills when I felt crappy. Gotta tell you ,life goes on, take it easy, go ebike .

Its a great bike but I seen better bikes with a smaller frame with all the “bells and whistles”. Especially living and commuting around NYC, like you said, not practical if you live in an apartment

You start by saying you needed to exercise during the pandemic and were happy about the ebike. Then you talk about how it does the work for you with the motor …..

I am use to paying $100 for a used bike. This costs way to much. Maybe $500 or $600.

Hold up, so it is a big and heavy bike, that you can charge so that it becomes easier to ride? Easy like in a regular light-weighted bike?….

Nobody ever talks about how much for maintenance when you take them to a Bikeshop? If every bikeshop knows or works on these bikes

    • mikecorsini85

      April 25, 2021 at 3:16 pm

Pop the battery out and it is pretty much the same as any other bike to service. Thing is that people ride these a lot more than they would a pedal bike and people forget to do things like adjust the gears, lube the chain… etc

    • Enrique C.

      April 25, 2021 at 3:21 pm

@mikecorsini85 heard some bike shops don’t even work on e bikes?

    • mikecorsini85

      April 25, 2021 at 3:25 pm

@Enrique C. then frankly they are bad bike shops… These entry level ebikes are usually Hub drive. Not that mid drive bikes are much more complicated.

Should be rather inexpensive to get it service but also relatively easy to derive yourself!

    • Logan Moy

      April 27, 2021 at 3:26 pm

@mikecorsini85 Yep, I get my bike serviced all the time by my local friendly bike shop. Most ebikes are just bicycles with an added motor and battery.

  24. Ryan Newell

    April 24, 2021 at 10:22 pm

Me too! Tinkered with electric motors for bikes starting in 1995, then electric RC helicopters, electric lawnmower, electric car. We are in the future!
Lights are easy, gotta have it and don’t forget the horn. I started with 120 decibels but it was too loud, scaring pedestrians so bought another one at 117 db

    • Leslye Robinson

      April 26, 2021 at 2:39 am

  27. jamesgjt

    April 25, 2021 at 3:00 am

Problem is that it is darn expensive. I got a foldable one with 800 with 16 in tires with rear suspension but without the shimano gears. Good one but normall one (not ebike oc the same kind would cost only 200 dollars…

  28. Quadrato

    April 25, 2021 at 5:54 am

E bikes are especially great for people who have fiscal issues but would love to have some form of exercise.

  29. Reggy Cheuk A Lam

    April 25, 2021 at 7:53 am

wow this bike is sooooooo cheap , compare it to the Netherlands, a good e-bike costs at least 2500 euro, the bike you have is a speedpedelec with 28 miles per hour, these bikes costs easily here 5000 to 10000 euro

  30. SecretOfMonkeyIsland

    April 25, 2021 at 8:25 am

Electric bikes are cool but bike theft is very common and a D lock isnt going to prevent it, so anywhere you go with it better have secure storage otherwise its getting stolen. Also if using a bike for exercise then an electric one isnt going to help, it will get you outside but all the hard work is being done by the battery and not your legs.

  31. Bekhruz Otaev

    April 25, 2021 at 9:36 am

Nah, the fact that without pedal assist this bike is slow and heavy tells me enough about how the manufacturer approached electrification of the bike. It has to be just as good without power help. Otherwise, hard pass.

    April 25, 2021 at 10:47 am

The prices of ebikes are so absurd in West. I can get a really good 250 CC motor bike at 1500$ in India

This video offers not one word on why choose an e bike over a regular bike. It is just an ad for one model.

  38. Steve Zodiac

    April 26, 2021 at 10:52 am

E bikes are alright for lazy or compromised people. A proper cyclist wouldn’t even look at one. I am 62 and still put out more power on average over an hour than a legal UK e – bike and because the bikes I ride are much lighter than an e- bike with a motor, can go faster with that power also. The other thing is hard peddling keeps you warm which is absent on electric bikes.

  39. John Mooney

    April 27, 2021 at 6:16 pm

I’ve never looked back from my electric bike they are great fun and you still get a work out aswell
