The milestones in Tesla’s pay package for Elon Musk will be hard to achieve but that is what Musk is good at, says Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management. He joins Caroline Hyde and Ed Ludlow on “Bloomberg Tech.” Correction: This video has been edited to fix a graphic error. One of the milestones for Elon Musk’s pay package is delivering 20 million vehicles over the next decade. A previous version of the graphic said 20 million vehicles annually.

Just a heads up. The package has nothing to do with earnings, which is GAAP net income. “Adjusted EBITDA” is the phony metric used.

The target is 20 million vehicles total, not 20 million vehicles annually.

@Akeem_768it’s common sense. Tesla will crash hard. That is inevitable. The core business is collapsing and the future technology will take years to build and even kongar to be profitable. This gap will be filled with a sharp drawback.

OpenAI has to sell its AI product to survive, while google has an existing search business that can fund selling its own AI product for zero dollars for as long as competitors like OpenAI exist. This is the key advantage Google has. The only way this flips is if Sam reaches AGI before Google.

I rate Gene & and think his understanding of Tesla is among the best of analysts. However, he’s just not getting the gig with chips. Teslas Ai5 chip is designed for specific hardware & software stacks. So it’s stripped of unneeded features compared to topline Nvidia chips, meaning greater efficiency & lower costs.
Teslas chip requirements will grow massively with Optimus & other performance targets. As Gene said himself, one of the largest threats to the milestones are supply chain constraints. Tesla is very much into vertical integration, so for mine, building a Tesla FAB is highly likely, if not inevitable.

How dumb are you? They cannot even make dry cathode work and you are talking about a FAB. Are you completely out of your mind?

In perspective … The Dodgers are giving Shohei Ohtani $700 million over 10 years to entertain them; so, I trillion seems appropriate for Musk who does a lot more.

@harbifm766766 In ten yrs? If all the operational metrics of Elon’s pay package are met it should be more like $20 trillion but it won’t stop there.

I don’t understand how one can say “that’s what he does, he delivers” without any comment on the fact that lately Musk made several big promises which he has not delivered.

@camerarightdoorpillarblocked
November 9, 2025 at 3:34 am
He promised to have a Roadster demo by the end of the year and after shareholder approval he shifted it to April 1st. He is openly mocking investors. Denholm lied through her teeth claiming the cybercab would come with a steering wheel and pedals before the vote. Now Musk made clear no steering wheel would come. Tesla is one of the most dishonest and disrespectful companies out there. Shame on Musk and shame on the board. May they all go to hell!
