Instead of playing in a fake world why not just go outside and enjoy the real thing. I hope this product crashes and burns and costs Facebook millions.

I agree, I hope they go bankrupt and people enjoy the real world.

I would have agreed with you a while ago, but it’s actually quite a good product. A lot of fun with friends. Shooting bad guys in VR is probably safer than shooting them in real life too.

Until they offer a very wide field of view, then I’m just looking at the world through a scuba mask. Not very immersive, in my opinion.

Facebook is taking and storing the users data and selling it to the government. In turn this data is being used to manipulate and control people and elections. This has been going on since humans walked earth. Unfortunately, this should be illegal and unethical. Think for yourselves always.

Important to mention the form factor will be more balanced in terms of weight displacement, and the HMD could be lighter.

It could be geared for professional use, but I bet it will at least be able to play every Quest 2 game that’s available. Most people use VR for gaming and social experiences now, and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon, even with Cambria.

What will make Cambria more practical, is if everyone had a Cambria HMD.

$800 USD is more than double for the Quest 2 but $200 USD below the Valve Index, making it potentially a better option than the Index.

VR with base stations is superior than in-camera tracking for controllers; hoping the cost comes down over time.

It shouldn’t be compared to something as outdated as the Valve Index. Meta said it will cost significantly more than $800. If that is true then it will flop.

Haven’t watched this video yet but this new VR better stay charged while being plugged into a computer because the current one doesn’t therefore it’s useless for me.

  16. jrowens84

    May 24, 2022 at 5:28 pm

In the video, you showed something like multiple interactive desktop monitors. Is it currently possible or do you think we are headed in the direction that professional multitasking would be possible without using multiple displays?

    • Desharr Saddler

      May 24, 2022 at 6:06 pm

You can do it on the Quest 2 rn but it’ll only get better and better as the years go by and developer work out the kinks

  17. Neurozo Innovation

    May 24, 2022 at 5:39 pm

If that’s the case, why not go for an AR headset or glasses instead? It will make more sense that the device does not have to purposely display the reality, won’t it?

    • Luke Martin

      May 26, 2022 at 5:59 am

Because of physics. AR hmds, even the most expensive like hololens have a tiny field of view. Like 50 degrees at maximum and they costs 1000’s of dollars due to using waveguide displays.

My guess is it comes in less than what is being reported for the shock factor.. I could see it being $699.

    • dtz1000

      May 25, 2022 at 10:31 am

That should have been the correct price for this but unfortunately Meta said it will cost “significantly” more than $800.

800$ is a bit much but if it can replace a laptop it would definitely be worth it. Love my quest 2 for now tho and can’t wait to see the quest 3

This is a good point. I might trade up to it if it has the right features and comfort.
