I don’t think this is true. The reason for no colour is because they use e-ink displays which are expensive anyway, but become even more expensive once you add colour.

@@thedude8128 I hate to pile on. I could be wrong here. But, I thought reduced power consumption and cheaper manufacturing cost were the big reasons e-ink is used. After that I thought it was the lack of burn in potential or something.
You don’t often want E-ink over a more standard display. There are a LOT of stores that use E-ink displays for price tags and signs. This accounts for a very large percentage of e-ink screens.
There are now phones using e-ink displays specifically for lowest cost to produce and longer battery life.
Originally e-ink displays couldn’t really do color. The point wasn’t to reduce eye strain (as far as I’m aware) it was a tech limitation. And, the fact that it was better to read from something that wasn’t blasting your eyes with light made it easier to read for longer was just an accidental benefit.

There are a ton of books with illustrations, reading LOTR illustrated by Allan Lee right now. Also children’s books, textbooks, comic books, manga. Maybe you wouldn’t use it, that’s what the cheaper one is for.

Really excited over this the colors look good in the video. But I’m still leaning towards B751c so I don’t get locked in the amazon ecosystem and I can live out my childhood dream of playing Galaga on an e-ink display lol
