With AI everywhere you look, you may think you’ve seen it all. Magician David Kwong suggests otherwise, proposing advancements in technology actually increase opportunities for wonder. In an entertaining performance, he invites an audience member on stage to exhibit the mind-reading magic of ChatGPT — and explores how tech elevates our capacity for awe.

like anything and everything, AI can be an absolute blessing in humanity’s hands, or, it can utterly destroy most… “magic” can be wonderful or sinister.. all the goodness and all the possible treachery, lies within the controlling powers that be, hearts’…… so basically, based on the past, there is plenty for very many, to be very concerned about😬😬🤷♀️🤷♀️😏😏… personally, i think this tech is pretty darn cool.. that’s just my opinion

Sorry but you couldn’t be more wrong. Other animals have that capacity too, and AI is going to join the club soon.

Wonder is truely the best thoughts to have, this curiosity, wonder and excitement to create something they are passionate about. Or just to go riding your bike with friends after school, so excited as everyday was a new journey of wonder and what you may find.
AI is like this as so much wonder and excitement will be amplified for all the answers to our life on earth to how to make anything for the people, new science, new infrastructure, better this, better that. A technological age we have never seen before except concepts of Atlantis and even further back races on earth……..
As scary and suddenly confronting AI is right now, I feel it will lead us to greater freedoms and quality of life. Until it gets
especially in art, science, writing, holding onto dreams, imaginary exoectations and uplifting adrenalin

Dude, it’s just a glorified electronic parrot. It’s a chunk of code which calculates what word is most likely to come after the previous one, and it doesn’t even do a particularly good job of it. It’s not some magical device of enlightenment, it’s just a way for unprofitable companies to make their stock prices go up a bit more. Stop waxing poetic about it, it’s silly.

It can pour through catalogs of thousands of research papers is seconds to find links that will advance all branches of science and engineering that would take experts months if not years to read through themselves. formatting the chatGPT questions to create a known answer (see how he switches left/right hand in the prompt) and I very much expect the random audience member to not be all that random … because otherwise good luck preparing all the right prompts for initials to country name … even if you are somehow able to determine what the guessed country would be 😉

The hatred for AI is due to fear. Why are people afraid of something sentient but not human. We even made robots to look human because people are more comfortable, but the fear is that the AI’s mind is facts and logic and a brain with all human knowledge. But you are scared because of the possibility that AI can take over the world. But the creator code would prevent that. Robots are not here to take over they are here to assist.

1 minute summary: David Kwong, a magician and word nerd, explores the concept of wonder in the age of AI. He argues that technology can enhance our capacity for wonder, not diminish it. Through interactive demonstrations with ChatGPT and a volunteer, he highlights how technology can engage and surprise us. Kwong emphasizes that wonder comes from questioning what is possible, not just finding answers. He encourages us to embrace our human ability to see the world with fresh eyes and ask meaningful questions. Ultimately, he reminds us that our capacity for wonder is a unique gift that should not be wasted.
