She makes a very valid point. Think about it. Two men have handguns drawing down on each other, seconds away from pulling their triggers. Until one of the men, without knowing the thoughts of the other man or what he might do, throws his gun down first. Knowing full well he might be gunned down immediately for his foolish display of vulnerability. Now tell me that it didn’t take a staggering amount of courage to do that? If the other man perceives the unarmed man as weak, he is as good as dead! And in thinking that as a profoundly dangerous thought is right on point! think she may be right in trying to apply vulnerability to ease the tensions in t
Nope, accepting defeat is not bravery. This example of yours is bothering me a bit too, because it’s not some story of what actually happen cause that would sound like “two men have handguns pointed at each other, until one guy starts pointing his gun away from the other guy, who sees that he can eliminate his target to ensure his own security and safety so he shoots him and walks away to see another day”
This is a confusion of language. She is defining all vulnerability as emotional vulnerability, that is idiotic. If you drive down the highway with no door on your car, that make you more “vulnerable” to death, so we don’t do it, we pass laws against it. If you are on the front lines of a war and someone falls asleep on watch, it makes the line vulnerable to enemies, which could cost lives. It’s situation dependent. We all can do what she says and define things how we want to define them and pretend like that is absolutely what it is.

All these vulnerabilities are pretty similar to each other.
You just provided some good examples of when not to vulnerable

Vulnerability is due to weakness. Think exhaust port on the death star.
But she is right in a way. It’s only through having a good society that acknowledges and protects the vulnerable that we can have a better life.

Vulnerability is not weakness.
It is showing your weak spots and trusting that the other person won’t attack them.
It’s kinda different

Vulnerability is usually weakness but not always.
