Can the iPhone 17 Pro replace a cinema camera? CNET’s Andrew Lanxon puts Apple’s newest Pro iPhone through the ultimate filmmaking test.

We shot our short film using a combination of the iPhone 17 Pro and its built-in lenses, alongside the Black Magic Pyxis 6K with a selection of Arles Prime and X-Tract Probe lenses from DZO film. Spoiler alert: pro cinema cameras aren’t going away any time soon, but your iPhone can still be an extremely powerful camera on a real production.
