Whether you’re getting Apple’s new iPhone 13 or holding onto a six-year-old iPhone 6S, iOS 15 will be available to download to your phone starting Monday, Sept. 20. The new version of iOS has been in public beta for months undergoing a variety of tweaks leading to the final release. I’ve been testing iOS 15’s new features, and everything from bigger additions like FaceTime call weblinks for friends on Android and Windows to smaller changes like pinning conversations to the top of the Messages app have improved my iPhone without disrupting my daily status quo.

Upgraded my iPhone 11’s battery the other day after it dropped to 79% battery health. Glad to have an extra 21% battery and the new iOS 15 for £69. Feels like a new phone now 📱 👍

    September 20, 2021 at 12:19 am

Would be good to see how far these features go on older phones.

There is a misconception that iOS 15 on the 6s or iPhone 8 is the same thing, but most of those features never go down. The updated OS is mostly for app compatibility for utility apps.

Would be cool to be more clear with that.

  33. Allen Parker

Whenever an update appears for iOS or any operating system with “new and exciting features,” I always apply the “Yeah, but why would you want to?” test. For example, the iOS 15 “Focus” feature: Yeah, but why would you want to? “Focus lets you filter notifications based on what you’re currently doing, and organize app and widget pages on your iPhone’s home screen to match your activity and state of mind.” State of mind? “I didn’t get enough sleep last night so I’m cranky so I don’t want any stock market alerts.” What an idiotic idea. I have a feeling iOS 15 is full of junk like this.

  43. KD9

    September 21, 2021 at 1:15 am

I’ll take the improvements to the Weather app, Safari, and Maps. Those three are actually all I care about in this “OS” update.

I love how all the talking heads endlessly push “Focus” mode because that’s what they’ve been told to do. Nobody cares, put your phone down if you want to “Focus”, Lmbo.
