I prerecorded myself in video meetings for a week (and nobody knew)
Under pressure to create groundbreaking content without leaving my apartment, I designed an experiment to see if I could automate my presence in video meetings for one week without my co-workers or supervisors noticing.

Thanks for watching everyone! If you want to see me feebly attempt to automate other life tasks or attempt any other high-tech pranks, let me know down below 🙂 ideas welcome

The names in the video chat are so unique, I instantly found out way too much information about your org. Perhaps those should be blurred? Or is this a blursed moment?

@David Jones Thanks for asking David. Everyone featured in the vid was given the option of being blurred long before the vid went live.

If you combine AI voice cloning , deep fakes and OpenAI’s GPT-3 model to generate the responses. You’ll pretty much not have to put in any effort lmao

I love it. Making the best of a situation while doing science and entertaining the world, what more could you ask for?
My take on this would have just two video clips: an idle animation, and a clip for speaking but with a very, very low frame rate. Just have the talking clip trigger by the sound of your voice and you can reply in real time while none would be the wiser.

This is less automating the melting and more automating responses since you still handed to be watching/attending the meeting. Just that your presence isn’t live. Still enjoyed it.

I loved everything about this experiment, but it also kinda freaks me out that other people could be doing this virtually! Your last point really stuck with me though, in that in these meeting we have virtually, they are some of the only opportunities we have to see people’s faces and interact with them in (hopefully) honest ways 🙂

I would love to see more stuff like this – it was hilarious and I bet it would work in most cases for most people. I can’t count the number of meetings that I’m supposed to attend where I have little to no input and can get the content I really need in a fraction of the time from the Powerpoint that is distributed afterwards.

People will scold you for that…
At the end it’s similar to not attending that meeting.

You did not automate anything…only thing you did was made recordings and selected the one you needed for the time being…you were still viewing the whole meeting yourself…so yep…no automation … think of Tesla, self driving mode, that’s automation….the ai makes all the decision, the driver does not tell the car to make a turn or go straight, ai does it automatically based on million of work hours that someone had stay in front of a computer to write the code for it….try again….fail

how about trying to see how far meta you can get? automate the entire series of automation using automated technologies and a.i. generating its own automated shows. a.i. is already creating its own original music. see how much of all this can be done by itself.

I could see this working well by using a blue tooth mike, but doing other things while listening into the meeting that did not need your active participation.

First, this is not just playing the pre-recorded video. He was standing by all the time in case emergency. Second, this is just an meanless experiment, since you took much more time other than actual talking…

You gotta use an AI behind the video loop! So when and which clip to use. Granted, given the current idiot assistants, that could suck

Dude you have to combine this with AI so that the machine can choose which clip to play when by analyzing the context!
