I 3D-Printed Luigi Mangione’s ‘Ghost Gun’ | WIRED

He has not been found guilty in a court of law. It is unethical to have a title like ‘Luigi Mangione’s ‘Ghost Gun’ when he has not been found guilty. What are you doing?? ALLEGED. Fix this title and fix this summary. The opening sentence is ‘this is the gun used in the most high-profile assassination in recent memory.’ Prove it! He hasn’t been found guilty, and this gun is ALLEGED, it is not proven. WTF Wired.

@@WIRED “We 3D-Printed Luigi Mangione’s Ghost Gun. It Was Entirely Legal”

Kinda disingenuous title, no? The can was ABSOLUTELY not legal thanks to the NFA; You had to have a licensed FFL, Mr. James Reeves, to print it for you. And even then, unless you filled out the forms and paid the $200 tax stamp, it’s not yours. Legally.

@@StupidRiceball I did see the can had a washer so they most likely did. Doubt they would’ve committed a serious felony for a video

@@StupidRiceball 1. They did 3D-Print Luigi Mangione’s Ghost Gun. 2. It was legal the way they did it. Title sounds OK to me for a You Tube video.

I’d like to think that this video is actually pro-Luigi, and is contributing to the defence’s case that there’s no chance of him getting a fair trial. How could he? Wired just posted a video calling him a murderer and explained the steps he took to make an untraceable murder weapon. No amount of “allegedly” offsets the very obvious _it’s a given that he did it_ vibe in the script.

Americans and their stupid gun fascination. Freedom isn’t dangerous. But anyone owning guns without restriction isn’t freedom. It’s anarchy. we live in societies and part of that is agreeing on acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, and we have governments as the big brother who can keep everyone in line and make agreements on what’s in line. If Americans want guns, that’s their choice, but it’s not freedom, as banning them doesn’t infringe on someone’s freedom to live their lives without limiting that same right of others. If you think that governments shouldn’t regulate, then murder should be OK, too. So should theft. The strongest win. If that’s a world you like, then move to Syria, or Libya, or Sudan, or any other lawless country.

I am pro gun-control, but the guy that wants to limit gun printing by way of firmware is naïve, if not fully ignorant. Just because printer company told you they can do it doesn’t make it possible. And we can just build our own printer that doesn’t use their controlled firmware.

remember the Founding Fathers started an ENTIRE war for LESS and that is HOW AMERICA FORMED.

Its noted that PSR at one point handled that weapon without gloves in the production of this video and not in the commission of a crime on top of the misleading language regarding both the named legal case but also in matters which the host was either purposefully misleading the viewer about or was mislead by the talking before picture on his computer. This is dubious altogether by creating such strong conclusions without being a judge or jury. As it stands The US Supreme Court has delivered opinions on related matters which outline the purposeful inaccuracies repeated regularly by the federal government and their lackeys in the media to create confusion to disarm and make people vulnerable to the network of rapacious organizations which roam the streets supported and pardoned by government to perpetuate the slum dynamic and to degrade lower income communities. America brought the lowest up and they want to destroy America and the people who only get by through honesty and hardwork.

like it has always been this is just more fear mongering against 3D printers. i mean why not more strictly regulate the real steel gun parts people are buying instead. i mean you could make a ghost gun out of a bb gun with those real steel parts probably much more easily then 3D printing could. or you know you could take 20 dollars to any hardware store and make a zip gun out of plumbing parts in ten minuets. people will always find away to make guns.

“Don’t post content on YouTube if the purpose is to do one or more of the following: Provide instructions on manufacturing any of the following: Firearms.”

Meanwhile, independent firearm enthusiasts regularly get their videos pulled, age-restricted, or demonetized for far less. The double standard is obvious: if you’re mainstream media, you get a pass — but if you’re just a gun hobbyist or DIY engineer, the censorship hammer comes down hard.

Why is Wired effectively providing a how-to guide on building a copycat weapon, especially when it’s being served up to Luigi Mangione’s fanbase of unhinged Marxist leftists?

This is just proof that the ancient US method of making the lower the registered part of the forearm is stupid AF.
Most sensible countries make the pressure bearing parts the resgistered/restricted parts.
The only reason the government are now making laws is because the NRA and the firearms industry doesnt want connsumers making their own firearms.
Totally ironic that the companies touting the freedom to have firearms, are the ones now pushinng for restrictions on 3D printed parts.

First of all that was incredibly biased. Secondly if a criminal is going to go commit a crime with a gun they don’t mind having a buddy make a straw purchase and file off the serial number. They’re not going to spend more money, time, and elbow grease just to then have to learn how to use a 3D printer all so that way they can finally make a gun legally. Especially when they can almost certainly illegally buy a more reliable firearm cheaper and sooner than a homemade one.

    Who is this amateur?

  200. @Felipe-tw1wg

    May 27, 2025 at 11:49 am

Maybe the problem ain’t the tools used to manufacture a gun. After all, you can manufacture guns with ancient technology like lathes, mills and presses.

Maybe the actual problem is mental health. Most crime perpetrators have some kind of mental illness, or sociopathic conduct.

People can do harm with knives as well, are you going to serialize knives? Regulating 3D printers is as stupid as it sounds.

  201. @epichawks

    May 27, 2025 at 11:51 am

Dope that wired both got a legitimately good 3d printer and contacted the most legit 3d printed firearm youtuber in PSR. Really well researched video by them ❤

But yeah, most ghost guns are just normal guns with their serial numbers ground off with a dremel and any DRM will be ineffective as most 3d printer firmware is open source or based on open source software, so you could just flash a new firmware without the DRM.

  202. @nicklasmichael1940

    May 27, 2025 at 12:20 pm

Why do they want to regulate 3D printers instead of all unprintable part one still needs to buy? I print a lot of functional things and gimics, but even though I didn’t even know that one could print something that lasts for more than one shot. And it looks like you still can’t. You can’t print the parts in contact with the explosion. So regulate that thing instead. Regulating high performance plastics that may one day be able to handle the exosiom part seems to make more sense than the printer people use for their figurines.
