Monarch butterflies are dying at an alarming rate around the world — a looming extinction that could also put human life at risk. But we have just the thing to help save these insects, says author Mary Ellen Hannibal: citizen scientists. Learn how these grassroots volunteers are playing a crucial role in measuring and rescuing the monarch’s dwindling population — and how you could join their ranks to help protect nature. (You’ll be in good company: Charles Darwin was a citizen scientist!)

GOD said in the Quran : ﴾And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good﴿ [7 : 56]

8 years ago my flower garden ( with a few carrots, etc. Mixed in) was swarming with several kinds of bees. Bumblebees and I don’t know what else.
I’d get a couple of monarchs and a few other butterflies and moths many, many birds.

FOR the last three years one or two butterflies, occasional birds, 5 bees.
Yes, 5. I have to look very carefully through the foliage to find them.

So far, this year, I have seen 1 bumblebee, one other bee, and 2 wasps.
No birds or butterflies yet, but it’s early here. We could still have snow.

We live in Southern California and do our part by helping. We have several Milkweed, as well as Monarch Caterpillars chomping away on them and we let them. We also have Gulf fritillary butterflies that eat, grow and flutter around our passion flowers.

Spread SARS-COV2 and save tze planet! The fear to cach COVID-19 has done more for the reduction of CO2 emissions than anything humans did. We need more self-isolation and lockdown. Humans are the biggest virus and we kill the planet we live from and on.

    How this topic pitch went:
Her: I have an idea for a topic, “How we can save the monarch butterfly!”
TED: “Um, okay, thats good but we need it be more personal, and wide reaching”
Her: “How you can help save the monarch butterfly!”
TED: “Why would I want to save the butterfly?”
    Her: “Cause of Global Warming!”
    TED: “Fucking Genius”
