Take action on climate change at .
Our descendants own the future, but the decisions and actions we make now will tremendously impact generations to come, says philosopher Roman Krznaric. From a global campaign to grant legal personhood to nature to a groundbreaking lawsuit by a coalition of young activists, Krznaric shares examples of ways we can become good ancestors — or, as he calls them, “Time Rebels” — and join a movement redefining lifespans, pursuing intergenerational justice and practicing deep love for the planet.
This talk was part of the Countdown Global Launch on 10.10.2020. (Watch the full event here: .) Countdown is TED’s global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. Get involved at

And another one blabbering about the climate. Yeah, no, the old adage about the ineptitude of future generations has reached a new M.O.: They will be unable to live. Plus, they neither had ridiculous projections and models based on assumptions nor the idiotic idea that you must abolish capitalism to uphold the capitalist tenet of infinite population growth. I remember when TED talks were given by people with credentials, not some blabbermouth advertising their books.

Roman you underestimate our combined ignorance and our ability to kill off the present populations to the point there will not be many people left to create the numbers you are talking about. We only survive do to the environment and that the people alive on earth are destroying without clean water to drink and food to eat death comes swiftly and like the ring around the Rosie a pocket full of poesy ashes ashes we all fall down. No one will remember your words because they won’t be here to remember.

I will likely also not have kids. Mostly because I don’t want to bring someone into a world that will likely be worse than the one I am now in.
But even we who don’t want to have kids can still recognize that no matter what we do, we will leave a legacy, whether it’s known it was us or not. And I want my legacy to be a good one

October 24, 2020 at 5:38 pm
@Nunya Bizniss of course we will likely have some sort of impact on the world despite not having offspring. my legacy will be my art. my art is my offspring.

@Nunya Bizniss I will probably die childless as well, but not because I think the world is not necessarily worth it but because I failed at life, and bringing children to this world without the minimum necessary advantages and privilege would be unforgivable.

October 26, 2020 at 10:38 pm
Actually, things would have changed, except for entrenched power structures. The Koch Brothers and Reagan administration killed the climate movement. But yes, people also do irresponsibly keep producing in a world that already is unsustainable due to over consumption due to animal agriculture, fossil fuel, uninhibited corporate exploitation, and still growing birth rate.
All of those things multiply each other, in case anyone tries to say “oVeRpOpULaTion Is A mYtH”

So many assumptions: stable birth rates, no change in pollution, the world continues instead of a natural disaster like volcanoes or meteors.
What if most don’t have a posterity or this mess we are leaving will push us to faster technology to fix it. This is pessimistic n negative..

😂😂😂😂😂 your version of good 😂😂😂😂😂 so what your asking us to do it destabilise the way we do things instead of gradually changing things so the outcome can be stabilised in a more efficient manner….. no thanks 🙏😊 my future is not known by anyone and because you’re talking about the past you could see how the coal power revolution throat Burning coal would’ve damage the environment in your eyes but see how it changed gradually to a better technology and now you’re complaining about that yes it’s right to see our faults but no you can’t do a Paradine shift globally because that promotes instability and an economic downfall. Don’t worry mate it’s gonna happen eventually we have electric cars now that’s going to cut the global emissions but it’s nice to see that people are still pushing in the right direction but it’s a Fanta see if you wanted to happen straight away. Just saying.
