The video is really something different. The brilliant minds. Creating a chip, mechanics, and to distinguish between friend or foe,for example(combat robots) It is mind blowing. An idea to a creation, that is priceless. Like our universe. I believe in the beginning it started with a grain of sand and from that point, time fit us in

What’s the point of a fighting robot? Seems completely useless in any real life application.

Assaulting an armed drug cartel? Any situation where a criminal needs to be caught, neutralized, or immobilized. Then accidental killings during arrests would disappear. And who said a robot has to use kickboxing and kung fu? Robots can be trained in judo and jiu-jitsu, grappling, and painful holds. Let’s go further: security guards in EVERY subway car, every bus, who will quickly disarm, say, knife-wielding attackers. Two or three security robots per subway car are acceptable, since humans can’t sit quietly and not kill others or engage in bullying. Another scenario is protecting schools, at least from school shootings—say, five robots rush in and neutralize the shooter before the police arrive. Patrolling playgrounds to quickly neutralize attackers, and any other places where an attacker needs to be neutralized but not killed.

this is just marketing. fighting robot is not as useful as fully capable robot that can do all housechores correctly and efisiently.

atlas can jump and etc but still does not sell well because it is still useless for many things.

    • @zenden9

      December 21, 2025 at 7:40 pm

They can definitely do house chores. But for marketing purpose. Will fighting robots attract more attention or doing house chores? You need to go learn marketing before u comment.

  14. @sfkeepay

    December 21, 2025 at 3:07 pm

The robot’s kicking form could use some work. It should be sitting more on its non-striking hip, essentially, nothing but the striking leg moving, and moving energy from the ground up through the leg. Of course, it’s incredible regardless…

  15. @sv3163

    December 21, 2025 at 3:32 pm

Here’s where these kinds of robots could be used: any situation in which a criminal needs to be caught, neutralized, or immobilized. In such cases, accidental killings during arrests could disappear. And who said a robot has to rely on kickboxing or kung-fu? Robots can be trained in judo, jiu-jitsu, grappling, and pain-compliance holds.

Let’s go further: security robots in every subway car and every bus, capable of quickly disarming, for example, knife-wielding attackers. Two or three security robots per subway car could be realistic, since humans cannot always remain calm and nonviolent, and bullying or aggression still occurs.
Another scenario is school security, at least as protection against school shootings – imagine five robots rushing in and neutralizing the shooter before police arrive. There’s also the idea of patrolling playgrounds and other public areas to quickly neutralize attackers. In general, these robots could be used anywhere an attacker needs to be stopped without being killed.

You need certain devices to measure force on the static and dynamic scales
To break ones balance on the move requires less force than when they are grounded in a stance and prepared to receive, redirect, block or dodge a blow.
    Accuracy, speed..
An object or person moving away requires more focus plus energy than in a static position or moving toward you.
” Example” being when another boxer does a high guard, ducks down, tries to weave away from a left hook, however does not see the right hand uppercut coming in from below.
Cannot describe in full, You would need a pro to demonstrate this visually.
” Just think trying to head s Mike Tyson’s fist as a defense while he was in his prime.
About close as I can get with the physics here.
Personally, Would not step up toe to toe with a robot regardless of it’s fight programming..
Would be more so inclined to utilize implements made of metal designed to withstand shock up close, or at distance via some sort of firearm if was in any armed force fighting against such tech designed for combat.
    Mines of all sorts..grenades..
Easier to show little mercy to machines than other humans.
    Less guilt on ones conscious.
Don’t see this direction as wise for any nation, but they are going to do it and learn the hard way regardless..
” Will no doubt make things worse all around the world.”

I watched a Chinese interview with a Unitree engineer, who mentioned that their company has a large team dedicated to researching motors, specifically focusing on high-performance servo motors and linear motors, as commercially available motors cannot meet the demands of robotics.

Americans are still debating the existence of climate change, or whether or not they should start making children wear ballistic armor to school or placing armed security guards there.
      I’m not even really exaggerating.

For everyday humans to understand, shouldn’t they have the Humanoid punch a punching bag meter like they have at carnivals? This way we would be able to relate to what they can do. Do they hit at a high level or even top level or are they average like the rest of us? It would be a simple and relatable visual.
