What does Kendrick Lamar have in common with Disney’s “Moana”? They recognize our common humanity and show us how to love ourselves and one another, says writer and educator Chloé Valdary. She shares how she uses pop culture to help people develop resilience and advance social change — and explains why cultivating love is the key to connection, healing and moving forward together. (This virtual conversation, hosted by TED business curator Corey Hajim, was recorded June 30, 2020.)

Come on, if love can solve social inequality, we’d have long been happily ever after. Racial inequality is a structural / historical problem in US & the world, I’m sorry, but getting an African American to TED talk about love is just not good enough!

Why are a certain group of “people” always manipulated into thinking that love combats hate? …..Are we actually still on that?

And if anyone disagrees, they’re the villain, right?

What WOULD massively help repair social inequality would be to make it financially worthwhile for people to start sharing the jobs we actually NEED people to do and working LESS….no more letting money decide the work we do or doing anything FOR money. There would be no such thing as a shortage of jobs in a world that shared the work it needs to have done.

One thing I can’t stand is racism. People judge other people based on skin color instead of choices they make. How can you negatively judge someone for things they can’t control?

Before I watch this video, I have an answer: treat others as you wish to be treated. Want to be loved? Be loving. Want to be treated kindly? Be kind. When others treat you differently or poorly, don’t give in to it. It’s really as simple as that.

@Errant Cognition you love those children by protecting them. Don’t give in to the hate, but stand up for the defense of the innocent.

@Errant Cognition the difference between violence and protection is great, though both may end up with death. We can still distinguish between motives.

This is great! I miss people who taught others to think for themselves. Stories are so central to this. You don’t have to like a story. you just need to know that that story exists. kudos to any teachers in any states, in any time that aren’t drones. . . . true sensei’s understand that students are going to love them and then hate them . . . and then understand the lessons once the lessons are over and then pass it on. This is the mute/deaf lessons of the oppressed that have no ears/friends to help.

Tyrants never win . . . they just are. And they pass.

This news just came in right now. Isreal is attacking Palestine right now for 7 nights. Cnn or fox or msnbc is not covering this story. Gaza is going to be attacked for 7 nights. 006 hours ago. Spread the word and lets stop isreal from attacking gaza whose already on the streets. You chose today if your going to stand up for all human lives or just black lives matter??? All lives matter.

I don’t understand why this video is recommended for me; I don’t go for pop-culture nor do I think I should look into celebrities. I think yes we should take responsibility for our flaws because not everyone wants to see them (including the people that you love or you want to love), but I am considered an introvert who is also anti-social and prefers not to look for love myself right away, I would rather deal with my flaws first then find love that way.
