The late Stanford neuroscientist Nolan Williams shares his research on the potential of a plant-derived psychoactive compound called ibogaine to help people with traumatic brain injury recover from PTSD, depression and anxiety. @Amygdala1992Try Kundalini Yoga. Try hemi-sych technology. Also be very careful with your diet and sleep cycles. And be careful with what you ALLOW yourself to focus on repetitively. Your focus determines your reality which is why it helps to learn meditation, Nei Gung, Tai Chi, Kundalini Yoga etc. What works for me might not work for you though – try ALL of them and figure out which ones work best for you. Look into Dr Robert Beck and his Brain Tuner machine also – he gave a lecture in 1983 that you can find on YouTube. Find it – listen to it. Get out into nature as often as you can; walk barefoot on grass as often as you can.
Don’t trust the FDA or pharmaceutical companies. The FDA approves big pharma drugs which kill 2,000 people per year BECAUSE 60% of all FDA officials own stock in the companies that they’re supposed to be regulating.

In this context, psychologists and psychiatrists are anti-fruiters, because they will be left without work. They tried so hard to create DSM-5 to have more clients) So they will not give up so easily and will put spokes in the wheels of new developments that really treat, and not just pump money out of naїve clients year after year.
@AustinCS
January 12, 2026 at 6:08 pm
The fist version of DSM even had in it that it wasn’t a hard and fast rulebook, but the brain disease model changed the way it was used and how much it was treated as a source of truth. I agree that it’s leaned on too heavily, and the politics involved have led to the rejection of Developmental Trauma Disorder by the APA. Cookbook psychiatry makes insurance more money!

There are a lot of drugs that can really help anxiety or depression permanently from one use. Most are illegal.
@liquidbraino
January 12, 2026 at 7:27 pm
Thank the FDA for that. 60% of all FDA officials own stock in the companies that they’re supposed to be regulating and they spend millions each year to shut down the competition. If they can’t make money from it they’ll shut it down – just like they did to Dr Robert Beck with his “Brain Tuner” machine and Dr Margaret Patterson with her “Meg Net” machine that cured several different rock stars of their drug and alcohol addictions. The FDA can’t make money by selling 9v batteries but they can make money by getting people addicted to Methadone which is even more addictive than heroin – it is not a “solution”. The FDA is nothing but a legalized drug cartel.

I can give a kid an orange, can I give a kid that compound?
@MetalHeadSippel
January 12, 2026 at 9:22 pm
Absolutely not. The reason being the brain is not fully formed until the age of 25, so even with all the positive aspects of natural medicine, ie marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and Ibogaine, these compounds can negatively effect the developing brain before adulthood.

That’s interesting. I’ve been treating a domesticated former stray cat for the last 4 years, rescued at the age of ~ 1 year, turned out she had PTSD from starving and almost being killed by dogs in our neighborhood. I did research over what I could give her to help calm her down and came across ashwagandha drops, which work really well, as they also got her cortisol levels managed, and now she’s a healthy, ~ 18 pound semi-feral cat. 2 drops a day of the stuff, one in her food in the AM, one in the PM, and she’s a healthy happy kitty.

The schedule 1 status of a drug means: “no medicinal value” and yet heroine is prescribed, it’s called diamorphine. Cannabis is prescribed, it’s called marinol…. I think schedule 1 means the drug companies can’t control or profit from it.😊

I did Ibogaine trip 2018, and it was a game changer for me. Depression gone, quit smoking, drinking, done with meaningless relationships, stopped shoplifting etc, etc. But ibogaine only showed the way, I did the work. It was effortless tho.

👁️⚡️ Psychedelics are the answer big pharma doesn’t want to prescribe because they actually work, often in one dose
@Pete-s5g8o
January 15, 2026 at 12:07 am
Psychedelics are definitely a threat to the proprietary business model of healthcare and pharma. The science is inspiring, yet is not covered or promoted as it would be in competition with a big money maker, SSRIs and non-generic medicines. Living with a TBI, I struggle to learn more about neuroscience and methods of recovery from treatment refractory depression. Sadly, what I am learning does not work within the business model of healthcare that says if it can’t be diagnosed and reimbursed, it doesn’t exist. For 38 years I worked as a healthcare professional, until an assault ended my nursing career and left me with a severe TBI. Having seen the big pharma and healthcare approaches and having suffered from life threatening conditions while searching for hope, I didn’t know how limiting medical models and restrictions were until it was personal to me.

Oranges are safer than Ibogaine by far so not really a fair comparison. I’m in favor of psychedelics for healing.
