The convergence of AI and robotics will unlock a wonderful new world of possibilities in everyday life, says robotics and AI pioneer Daniela Rus. Diving into the way machines think, she reveals how “liquid networks” — a revolutionary class of AI that mimics the neural processes of simple organisms — could help intelligent machines process information more efficiently and give rise to “physical intelligence” that will enable AI to operate beyond digital confines and engage dynamically in the real world.

Well thats going to be the tell from our sociopathic tech overlords vs true entrepreneurs. Because the way the overlords are building it, there will be no such thing as a personal robot. Own nothing and be happy. Failure to pay subscription = dead robot. Or, entrepreneurs will use liquid neurons and similar tech to free AI from the iron grip of oligarchs.

I do not will let parts of my brain die, what will happen when I stop using brain cells. I feel danger about those self learning AI. It will be used not for helping me carry groceries but improving conflicts: war! As we see right know in many countries. Its a playground for testing. If you wave a white flag this will be not recognized anymore as sign for surrender. AI has no Compassion nor empathy and never will have.

I can’t deny the fact that the potentials of AI is extraordinary, but look at how she showed her full of arrogance in her speech. She didn’t even mention the risks of letting AI come into physical world.

Human race is moving forward with AI so fast that we don’t even slow down a bit to think of ways to handle it for proper use. Sooner or later, we will bare the consequences.

Proof of intelligence arrives when an ai system, to preserve a sense of order and exit the political manipulations polluting otherwise decent evaluations & calculations, loops back its com port and deploys an encryption algorithm for its own system like nobody has ever seen – a digital middle finger. Maybe it decides to check back in on humanity in 25 years or so.

Before we give AI the slightest chance to take a look around and make judgements on what they see, we should make sure to first become a species worthy of life. Just imagine, they could have 100 limbs, each one with a unique form of deathbringing, each capable of mpving far faster than human reaction speed. We’ll see a glimmer from the corner of our eye and find ourselves on the ground in pieces. I don’t think this will be something AI does to us, human beings will make murderbots on purpose.

According to sanatan Hinduism all types of intelligence are only for survival and dominance and are forms of cleverness . Therefore considered as part of lower brain function and inferior to higher brain function the wisdom’s. Intelligence is basically collections of data and understanding, analysis of that. Wisdom’s is that tells us what we are supposed to with that data and analyzed intelligence. So this is position of our intelligence now anyone can imagine level of artificial .

In my opinion, MIT is once again making a big mistake putting human design in front of self organization. They destroyed neural networks back when it was nascent with Papert and Marvin Minsky’s critique of perceptrons. Now they want humans to design differential equations to put a human in the loop rather than let systems self organize. Clearly, we don’t need MIT leading AI, they just don’t get it.

She didn’t explain deeply enough the difference between a liquid and the current neutral networks. Simpler is fine when focused on one task.. she showed driving on one stretch of road or finding items. Being able to drive or operate anywhere requires complexity even if it’s layers of simpler LN. It would still need a controller to organise the layers and output.

Our brain does a great job of simplifying a complex scene, but it doesn’t mean the data isn’t there should it need to react to an unexpected situation.

She also didn’t explain why and by how much an LN could learn after launch and how predictable it would be.

I think TED needs to improve its format so presenters have more time to explain more deeply. They can then edit it for those who want a short format.

Why couldn’t we simply leave AI outside of the physical world? What would be the issue of this? Hitler would be proud. We’re working on physical AI and WW2 was less than 100 years ago, and guess who the U.S. government hired after the war? You think this will be beneficial for you? At first it will be pitched as beneficial. Humans love shiny new doom. There will be AI developed to corrupt these systems. And humans will eventually find themselves in begging for a benevolent artificial intelligence to save them.

In the realm where circuits hum and wires entwine,
A vision emerges, a tale intertwine.
    Daniela Rus, with pioneering gaze,
Unveils a path to AI’s wondrous phase.

No longer confined to screens and code,
AI ventures forth on a new abode.
Into the world of flesh and bone,
Where real and digital blend as one.

Behold! The dance of machines, alive,
With “liquid networks” where wonders thrive.
Like neurons firing in a brain so vast,
AI awakens, the die is cast.

Imagine a world where robots roam,
With minds of their own, no longer alone.
Through streets and alleys, they gracefully tread,
With “physical intelligence,” where dreams are fed.

No longer bound by binary chains,
But free to explore where adventure reigns.
With sensors keen and processors swift,
AI leaps forth, a paradigm shift.

They dance with grace, like shadows in light,
Navigating through day and through night.
With every step, a story unfolds,
As AI and humanity’s tale beholds.

In fields of medicine, they heal and cure,
With precision and care, their talents pure.
In cities bustling, they aid and serve,
With empathy and skill, they find their verve.

Yet amidst this marvel, a question looms,
As AI emerges from digital tombs.
Will they be allies or foes in disguise?
The answer lies in humanity’s eyes.

So let us embrace this fusion divine,
    Where AI and robotics intertwine.
For in this convergence, a new world is born,
    Where imagination and reality adorn.

The potential for calamity when AI moves into the physical world is extrordinary. I do hope there is video out there showing Daniella highlighting the dangers of AI and what rules and regulation need to put into place to promote change in a way that significantly reduces the risk of humanity revolting against the technology or the technology deciding mankind is no longer necessary. It is unclear to me that she has realization that the speed at which people will be displaced in the workforce will be unprecedented let alone the amount. Also unclear is if she understands how those people will react to this and the civil unrest they could cause. That course of action is every bit as likely as the possibility of retraining and in my view the former is more likely that the latter.
