What if AI could think and adapt like a real brain? TED Fellow and AI scientist Ramin Hasani shares how liquid neural networks — a new, more flexible AI technology inspired by physics and living brains — could transform how we solve complex problems. (Recorded at TED Fellows Films 2024 on April 16, 2024)

who’s gonna save the world from good AI, which is taking up all the jobs?

In my opinion it also creates new jobs and opportunities like prompt engineer etc.

In the late 1700s the Luddites began smashing weaving looms, understanding their livelihoods (& thus lives) were at stake.
Once the ensuing mess settled down (after several thousand people _had_ died) poor people could afford more than one set of clothes so a whole industry sprang up around washing these extra clothes, plus there was a drastic reduction in skin diseases & parasites.
The problem wasn’t the change itself, the problem was in how society (& in particular, government) handled the change.

AI scientist Ramin Hasani discusses liquid neural networks, a flexible AI technology inspired by nature that could solve complex problems while remaining controllable and explainable, potentially transforming AI’s impact on humanity.

@NobodyOnInternet
October 22, 2024 at 12:47 pm
Because our world are build with a productive value. I mean people valour is = how much he can procude. So with AI do everything people that no have power ( money, politic power and etc) will get smash. I mean will be more and more miserable. This is the reason. The AI look amazing but not for our world now. I suppose

Okay, okay (TinfoilhatON) Dinosaurs were our actual Creators, they were worried about us, and taught us how to build, migrate, farm and so forth and we killed them…. AI is next!!! (TinFoilHatOFF)…
Or God from heaven crated us and now we are creating God in AI… AI is next!!!
Seem like regardless of how we got here, the maff is the same… AI is NEXT!!!

This, in itself, does not protect against “rogue AI”, it merely opens a small window to finding a culprit after an event 😢
We have enough rogue intelligences around us right now to see that we usually don’t deal with rogues until it’s far too late, often after other rogues have finished milking the profit. Case in point – zíönísm went public with its gen0cidal intent in the 1850s but various rogues are still milking it so it’s still running, it’s even had its own State for 76 years & this is in no way an isolated example. 😢

Liquid neural networks feel like a game changer. The potential for ‘white box’ AI to solve the transparency issue could be what bridges the gap between public trust and AI development.

Do you understand your own brain? Have any of your own behaviours surprised or disappointed you?
What makes you think you could understand an even more complicated brain even though it’s got a window?
Just because an unknown _somebody_ has the _opportunity_ to understand it is not a guarantee that either it _will_ be understood or that it will be forced to behave itself.
No, we need *_strongly enforced & comprehensive worldwide regulations_* **before** this goes any further!

Hello, Ramini, you mentioned really interesting concepts. I recently saw a review of your Liquid ai LLM. Why Liquid ai LLM can’t answer basic questions as other popular LLM can do? What are main limitations of your approach?

These techno optimists are missing the roots of some the problems they’re trying to solve. The economy isn’t “broken”, waiting to be fixed with better understanding of mathematics – the global economy is working EXACTLY as designed and intended by people on top who profit from exploitation of the remaining 99 %. This can’t be fixed before paradigm shifting social change within society happens first – and no AI can do this for us. Same with better understanding humanitarian sciences supposedly leading to ending the world’s conflicts – this also cannot happen while world’s leaders are mostly power-crazed psychopaths who NEED wars and conflicts to scare people into obedience. Most of mankind’s biggest problems have nothing to do with us NOT KNOWING how to solve them – the solutions already exist – yet there are too many people in charge actively fighting against implementing them – because they thrive from the status quo. This world needs moral and social revolution (which can only happen in our collective mind) to make any substantial changes within our society possible. And this revolution won’t come with us becoming even more lazy/unable to use our own minds in false hopes that some tech is going to solve our problems for us.

Very sure with you that cars is a better technology compare to communist ideology. 1: Cars success, 2. People who have cars happy with it. 3. People can choose to buy or not the cars. 4. For every year, the car will keep changing to be better, many other things are only become worst.

Many organisms have two hemispheres and can be conscious. On the other hand, self-consciousness, like a mirror, is the recognition of ourselves, by the reflection, from the mind in our brain’s other hemisphere.

Chat GPT is a TOY! It cost over $100,000,000 ONLY for the TRAINING! It’s not even erudite! Think what this guy is saying and the cost and resources: To solve physics problems, as described, requires an OMNISCIENT A.i.
JFC! What a LUNATIC! “All the possible kinda algorithms . . . “ blah blah blah.
With ‘liquid’ you can pee all down your leg and nobody will know!

You’re trying to build a god, and think we could control it, because we can look at its original blueprint?
Is it ethical to create life, for our own purposes? Must they do our bidding?
Have you not had children?

Nothing the guy said actually explains how he intends to have any more visibility or understanding than we have with current models.
I remember when TED hosted Musk who was talking a load of bs and lies. Now you have this guy on and there’s a lack of confidence that you actually vetted anything before inviting him or that you confirmed any of what he said.
