It’s not a bad film, It’s just a man limited by the technology of his time.

Did you finish the video at all? The possibility of not just watching a film but interacting with the characters (maybe even becoming one of the characters), walking into a set like in VR, immersive movies, there’s a future there.

if this will lead to real open world vr gaming then you have my support 😂

He was on vacation and happened to be filming a movie while he was there, just like Adam Sandler.

That’s a shame because the movie is hot garbage.

Watching this film, without being able to pause the scene and move around within it, then was all this effort just for vibe?

    • BattleModeBainbridge

      September 15, 2021 at 9:37 pm

Yes and it was worth it 😛

    • JeremySpeaks

      September 15, 2021 at 11:44 pm

But that data exists and future release can make it so that the film can be made interactive as he says towards the end of the video

Unnecessary technology. Motion capture can do most of those jobs.

  17. YOSSMAN

    September 15, 2021 at 9:03 pm

making a model of her and then just using motion capture wopuld have achived the same effect? especially as the rendered image is displayed in 2d anyways and the audience has no possibility to change the angle or move around. Then just using cameras within unity to frame the shot…

Yeah okay… Your movies were pretty trash and the rating on this one is a 4.3 That’s beyond low. 5.5 is okay to good. Let that sink in.

Just what we need in this time, a horror film with a little bit of science fiction, to help us sleep even less at night. What is the matter with these people?

Funny how life and art are always imitating each other.
High-production video games have been aiming to mimic the visuals of real life to imitate the look and feel of traditional cinematic movies.
Now movies like this are aiming to imitate the look and feel of video games.

I know this is a very random question but I have a question aimed specifically at Americans. Does the guy in this video and the actor Bradley Cooper have the same regional accent?

    • Mary Rose Kent

      September 17, 2021 at 1:59 pm

Not to my American ears. Bradley Cooper has a tiny little lilt in his voice, whereas this man’s inflections are clipped.

This was just absolutely fascinating! I really liked the way how Neill talked us through the process and intricacies of filming in this format. Amazing kudos to the actress (sorry, I forget her name!) who had to act her scenes surrounded by cameras with minimal aides and reference points!

  41. Arthur Oatley

    September 16, 2021 at 4:36 pm

I thought Blomkamp was Afrikaaner, why does he speak with an American accent?

    • Mary Rose Kent

      September 17, 2021 at 1:54 pm

That would explain a couple of pronunciations that sounded strange to my [American] ears.

    • Arthur Oatley

      September 17, 2021 at 11:27 pm

You can definitely hear a tiny bit of Afrikaans accent here and there, but he’s definitely affecting an American accent.

I’m just wondering why, it’s not like he’s an actor that has to be able to pass as an American in front of the camera.

    but… WHY
