Samsung has made me want the older watches beacuse of the easier and more interesting interfaece. I never cared for google’s app drawer nor do I care about AI BS. Thanks for helping me save money on these garbage watches.

However impressive Gemini is, and it is, having to keep the button pressed on a hands free device is not that great. Specially since it’s a conversational application. Would be far better if I could press it once for initiating and then pressing again when I judge the conversation is over.

    • @stewartviera4774

      July 15, 2025 at 12:22 pm

I believe she kept it pressed because she said she was in a loud demo area. If you’re not in a loud area or wearing your earbuds then you should be able to just say “Hey Google” and then ask your prompt without having to touch it

  7. @krisk3363

    July 15, 2025 at 12:17 pm

    It’s still too slow lol

    • @stewartviera4774

      July 15, 2025 at 12:25 pm

I think the slowness is due to the fact that the watch itself has no internet. The watch is sending all the info to your phone and then the phone is getting all the answers and passing it back to the watch. This causes delays. I am curious if the performance is much speedier if you use the LTE version of the watch and add a data plan to it so it no longer relies on your phone’s connectivity. I’ve been debating about this but I think I may take a bit of slowness vs paying data monthly for my watch :$ I wish T-Mobile would just give you free data to wearables too.

    • @vanessahandorellana

      July 15, 2025 at 3:59 pm

Yeah it’s tough to judge speed with demo room internet, it’s been much quicker at home.

Yes this is a game changer for me as a disabled person who doesn’t Have access to My phone all the time because I Can’t Carry it all the time when I walk With my parents this is gonna give me so much Freedom my question to you is did you try to change the volume on watch Or mute your watch Or put it on Vibrate because right now I have Google Assistant on my watch that is a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and it doesn’t have control of the basic volume control mute control Etcetera Because Samsung has Bixby And I don’t wanna Give control to Google Assistant from all my research it looked like sounds Samsung is it going all in into Gemini which I hope Gives Full control to Gemini Because Samsung Bixby doesn’t recognize my voice

    • @vanessahandorellana

      July 15, 2025 at 3:56 pm

I love this use case for AI and excited for you to try Gemini on the wrist! I can’t speak for the phone, but I was able to ask Gemini to max out the volume on the watch, and it did so seamlessly.

    • @mthuhn

      July 15, 2025 at 5:20 pm

@@vanessahandorellana Yeah I found another video that showed me that you are able to control the volume On the watch and mute it Which is great Because right now I can’t do that with the Google Assistant because Samsung Wanted you to use Bixby Which doesn’t work with me because of my speech impediment I am very glad that Samsung has Gotten rid of Bixby And Put all their chips into Gemini I’m very grateful of that

Sounds like you got the first time in touch with artificial intelligence. State management and dialogue coherence are basic requirements for AI that is supposed to work with natural language.

But let’s talk about a few things. Gemini and ChatGPT hallucinate. They do this mainly in the following two cases:

    1) the AI can’t find a solution to the answer and negligently infers an answer from other similar factors.

    2) The AI could find the solution, but invests little computing time or depth of reasoning/inference depth and resorts to a “probable” but unsubstantiated answer.

I would like to warn the curious not to take the status of free access to these AIs for granted. In my experience, the quality of Depth of Reasoning, for example, has greatly diminished. This can even affect simple consumer topics, such as the desire to find a good restaurant with xyz speciality. This will probably not remain free for long or you have to live with some funny surprises.
