Didn’t CNET buy the phone for you to evaluate?

Thanks for watching! What do you think… should I remove the inside screen protector? 🙀

    • Michael Miller

      March 18, 2021 at 5:35 pm

Don’t until you purchase a replacement. It will eventually come off as mine did. Don’t just remove it and leave it without a replacement protector.

    • Android Nokia

      March 18, 2021 at 5:54 pm

No don’t remove Screen Protection. Z Fold 2 Display is almost like a Heart of the Device. From a CNET channel Subscriber from India.

    • Kashish Prasher

      March 18, 2021 at 5:56 pm

@Michael Miller Won’t the replacement protector just function as a peace of mind at that point. You’ll still have a unprotected screen regardless, you might as well just enjoy the benefits of it. Keeping around the replacement isn’t going to unscratch your screen if that happens. Also, it’s my understanding that you have to send the phone into Samsung for them to apply the protector. So even if you have it, you can’t put in on yourself (you can if you want but with how specialized the screen is you really should send it in).

Look how you hold it when you unlock with fingerprint… You hold it the exact same way with the other hand if left handed.. So the middle or index finger hits right on the sensor… So this would be no issue at all for a left handed person.

A YouTuber Froze his Z fold overnight in a freezer and it came back to life. This phone is very durable. Also after 6 months I finally took off the inner screen protector much better experience!

My smartphone cost around $23.00 dollars new. And my phone plane is around $130 dollars per year. Over a 10 year span I will save somewhere over $10,000 dollars as compared when I was with Verizon. Just saying.

Lexy, you should give Good Lock a shot, it’s a hub of downloadable modules that lets you tweak your phone even further. The app is extremely immense in function that I cannot explained it here, but there’s plenty of videos in YouTube that greatly explained the modules in Good Lock. Highly recommended. Great review btw 😀

I’ve been an iPhone user from the beginning but I got bored with the lack of innovation from Apple so I’ve switched to Samsung and bought the Z Fold 2 last September. I’ve been using it ever since and loving it. I did peel off the screen protector on the inside screen and it works fine. I took it off about a month after using it.

I took off the screen protector myself and replaced myself been using it since i pre-ordered it. It’s holding up very well and stopped babying it after 90 days of use. I can confirm it’s a not as fragile as it i thought.

Loving my z fold 2. Been using it for two months now with no screen protector and it’s doing great. I usually upgrade every couple months but I can’t imagine going back to a regular phone. I even sold my tablet.

I will say I’ve dropped this phone more often than I normally would (it’s fine though!) Because of the weight. It has slid out of my pocket when getting into my car or sitting on a chair several times now and hit the carpet or the bottom of my car. So far no scratches. I’m using it no case with just a dbrand skin.

    March 19, 2021 at 12:44 am

Really thorough long term review and well presented. Also, get rid of the inside screen protector. you won’t miss it if you continue using it with the mindset that it’s a $2,000 phone. Have had mine off for 3 months, and really would rather enjoy the screen everyday than put up with smudges, sticky feeling and less effective clarity.

This type of “real life usage 6 months later” video is gold! I hate when other tech channels do a 6 month or 1 year later video and basically speak about specs only.

  28. Mia R

    March 19, 2021 at 3:10 am

I cracked my screen the very first day of owning my phone.. I had it in my back pocket while I was standing in line to vote. And it was so hot outside. I decided to sit on the curb until the line moved. it was then I heard this thud and I new I damaged my phone. I took it out and I sure did. the outside screen cracked from one corner to the other. I still haven’t gotten it fixed yet. because I never use the outside screen. But now I see problems with the home buttons not wanting to respond. I have to bend the phone in a partial close sequence. And then push on the buttons for them to work. I also have to redo my screen apps every couple of weeks. Because they go back to the default settings. Something with my settings. I have the insurance package. But they tell me it could be 4 to 6 weeks before I get my phone back because of Covid restrictions. That’s why I haven’t gotten it fixed yet.

+CNET I have a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G. The factory installed screen protector on the Infinity Flex Display was starting to delaminate for me at the hinge. So, I just feeled it off very carefully and it doesn’t do any damage to the flexible display. Although, I do plan to buy a new one for the Galaxy Z Fold2 because the main plastic screen looks and feels too nice to mess up.

  32. Alexander Fraser

    March 19, 2021 at 6:59 am

Mine is away getting fixed just now dirt got in the hinge and the screen got destroyed so quickly no way to clean it out even if you know something more than likely got in it

Has small niche support of consumers but overall this is a gimmick phone at the moment. Great for the Instagram crowd but adds little value. Looking on eBay and it is clear that the foldable phone has little love, new for £1000 and secondhand around £800, that is a big loss in 6-months or so! I think that price is the main factor as this is clearly not worth close to $2000, but also the Fold design is more retro than modern and the aspect ratios of the screens and that eyesore of a gap make it look cheap.

It is a work in progress but I think Samsung need to redesign it as compared to the Mate X2 it looks third rate? Also, add pen support and allow an attachable keyboard, both essential to give it some usefulness, just a big phone is not going to do it! Even though I could buy this for £1000 I have no interest as it is big and bulky with little else, even watching media is no better than using your normal candy bar phone (black bars top and bottom)! Hopefully, in 2-3 years Samsung will make it better but ATM it is not going anywhere fast.

I still don’t see the need for an ugly foldable phone

    • Farhan Ahmad Tajuddin

      March 19, 2021 at 9:00 am

For me, I’ll just stay with LG DualScreen detachable case. It’s much more practical than a foldable screen phone as I don’t need to carry the case all the time.

  35. Desolateone

    March 19, 2021 at 9:31 am

I’m sorry but at that size, you will not notice any difference from 50,60 or 120hz…you’d need a large projection screen to really see a huge difference…

  36. nuyou21

    March 19, 2021 at 11:15 am

Huawei’s Mate X2 makes Samsung’s Z Fold 2 look laughable. Also CNET, 6 months yet still no Z Fold 2 drop test. 🤦‍♂️

I’ve had my z fold 2 since launch and I can honestly say this is the greatest phone experience I’ve ever had on a phone. It’s so emersive and fun to use… It’s also a flex phone in public it stands out. I took the screen protector off 2 months ago I haven’t had any problems

I had ZF2 in my hands several times, the phone is amazing with top notch build quality! But for me the screens should be a bit larger like the Mate X2.what do you daily user guys of the Z FOLD 2 thinks? After 6months, do you think that those screens need to be a bit larger, or do you love it as it is?

Keep using your existing phone, don’t buy a new one unless you need a new one. Buy a new one with the smallest possible screen. You’ll do a service to the Earth, Climate and yourself long term!

I like how your reviews have reenactments lol. I have a z fold 2, my issue in the beginning was actually finding a case. You are brave to use it without one 😅

    • Christopher Sullivan

      March 21, 2021 at 7:33 am

I only use mine without a case when I’m at home. The case I use is the spigen slim armor pro. It is $90 dollars for the case but it is the only case I’ve seen that offers protection that I’m satisfied with.

  46. LifeLongMETALHead83

    March 20, 2021 at 10:59 pm

I have used mine for almost 6 months. Dropped it twice, one time from sitting onto to tiles. No damage. Second time was onto to pebbled concrete. A few small scratches on the front screen (no protector). The metal frame and hinge has a few dings and scratches. I also removed the inner protector after 5 months. It was starting to lift at the top amd bottom of the crease. When I did removed it it had grease under the protector. Its so much better now.

I have the Z fold 2. I removed both screen protectors and only use a dbrand skin. I have no issues with it whatsoever and I dropped it a lot of times.
I do miss the ease of use of a slab phone so I did buy a 12 mini. But I don’t think any phone can take me away completely from the fold 2.
    It’s such a great phone

I think this form factor is still such a new concept. In few years, the apps would be optimized. It would be useful. As someone who loves tech, love where Smausng is going with it.

  52. Christopher Sullivan

    March 21, 2021 at 7:29 am

For the fold 3 I’d like to see better color options, a better aspect ratio for the outside display, cameras from the s21 ultra and 512GB storage capacity or extendable storage.

Such a relational review…meaning that guy or girl (despite your best effort) you fall for, you keep coming back to. Their average but special enough to garnish your attention. Great review and maybe a case (if your into that sort of thing) will help remove that placing it on a surface anxiety.

I’m getting the Z Fold3 so this question is for any Z Fold2 residents 😁, is or has storage been an issue, I’m a Note 20 Ultra person and that’s what stopped me from buying the Z Fold2 at launch but having bought my fiancé the Z Flip 5g, I’m buying the Fold3 thus is the reason I’m asking about storage, thanks for listening 😁

I’m a long time iPhone user that switched to the Surface Duo last year. Liked the Duo but there were too many compromises. I decided to try the Z Fold2 and I’m very impressed. I expect to be a long time Z Fold user going forward. I just wish they had dual sim support here in the USA.
