So AI and robotics is a means to create our new slaves. But what if the AI is so good that it decides it doesn’t want to be our slave, either?

Already exists. There are groups of people around the world that believe that “they are special” and all the other people in the world are really sub-human, without souls, created just to serve them. Polular terms used for such robotic sub-human biobots are “gentiles”, “infidels”, “heathen”, “sudras”, etc..and in every case the sub-humans have risen up and demanded “equal rights”.

Ive stated so many times before, openai going public in any near future would be horrible for ai safety, balance and checks. Theres no way in hell i want my mom and pops buying any sway in a company like this. Like to really dumb it down and be frank about it, “Do you want skynet? Because thats exactly how you create skynet!”. Ive put a lot of deep thought into this and I won’t change my position on that for quite some time. Companies stay true to their visions when theyre private. Valve and steam is a perfect example, opposed to the rest. Good things can happen after a lesser technology exploiting company goes public, but that can take a decade or more to iron out properly and become a fair and respected company. For a leader and juggernaut to do this now when as a customer, im more then happy to whip out my credit card just for them for the quality of product they deliver, it would become a zoo internally with expectations of investors and could lead all of humanity down a bad road leading to mass exploitation, making the mess social media made in society look like a cakewalk in comparison.

About the risks of AI, remember: when Prometheus stole fire from the gods to give it to humans, the gods replied by giving to his brother Epimetheus Pandora (meaning “gift of gods”). This made humans find plenty of disastrous ways to use fire.
AI is a tool. It’s up to us human to use it wisely. Does pausing AI help? or wouldn’t it better to use part of the $85 Bn of OpenAI to teach humans (read “school kids”) how to use it wisely?

There is no business model that will pay for universal income. This is just power hoarding and unwillingness to go public exposes that.

Exactly, these board members have watched a lot of dystopian sci-fi and have said to themselves that they alone with their EA can save humanity. But, the reality is, there’s no reason to assume AGI would want to end it’s creator. Our instinct that often, sadly, drives us to destroy will likely be very foreign to such an intelligence as AGI and then ASI. It might actually help us evolve in a way that we will no longer seek conflict but, rather, a greater understanding of ourselves and the universe. AGI also can provide massive benefits to society most aren’t aware of yet including better healthcare, curing diseases (and way beyond this that I won’t get in to here) and offering educational opportunities to those who, otherwise, might not have access. I’m so exhausted with the “doomer cult” who would rather we stay in one place forever, no matter how much suffering in the world AGI could alleviate, then safely take these beginning steps into a new frontier for humanity.

2:44: 👥 Microsoft’s support for OpenAI is seen as a positive move for progress in AI, with more resources and competition.
4:55: 👥 The speaker discusses the unexpected firing of Sam by the board and mentions the presence of bad actors.
7:53: 💡 The video discusses the balance between the risks and opportunities of commercialization and the potential benefits it can bring to humanity.
10:28: 📊 The speaker believes that opening I is in a good financial position and does not need to go public at the moment, but acknowledges that the company’s governance needs improvement.

I found him irresponsibly one-sided compared to for example Geoffrey Hinton. “Saving humans from the slavery of work”. He ignores that many humans don’t just work for money but also for the purpose of utilising ones skills. Sitting around at home with a guaranteed basic income might not lead to happiness of a society.
Also he doesn’t talk about the risks of AGI being abused by bad actors.
He apparently made no effort to further investigate whether or not Sam Altman was candid to the board or not and if he wasn’t, how that could be changed.

I think AGI needs to be done, because someone will do it, and rather have a responsible company take the first step to define the standard. But we need those who are in oversight of this company to be fully transparent with the public, and this interview was not encouraging.

He’s a money hungry capitalist. Shameful tweets over the last week showing that. Willing to drag down the board, and new CEO just to protect his investment. OpenAI had a disclaimer for all investors to view their investment more as a charity, and that they were likely to lose it all.

News is surfacing now, there was a potential Breakthrough in next GPT-5, and those 2 women who are not returning to the board conspired to get the fame and get Altman fired. Thankfully they were fired and will now get the folly. The mutiny was inspired by politics and less by altruism. In the end we all are humans and Altrusim goes for a toss when it comes to Name, Fame and Money. Those 2 women did the same, to get control of a company they were appointed a board of , thats why they ensured both Founders be fired. They should be careful of hiring these good for nothing politically minded women.

This guy contradicts himself a number of times just in the first 2 minutes. He says AI will benefit humanity, when we all know the opposite could be true in the long-term, e.g. if ASI is achieved.
Then he goes on to talk about Sam Altman like he’s irreplicable, only to say a minute later that he could quite easily be replaced by another top name in the company if the worst happened.

I get that this guy is an Invester so wants to say what’s best for that investment, but that’s the problem, you’ll never get the unvarnished truth from someone like this. He’ll say any nonsense to get a return on his investment.
