How do you make a video about everything you need to know about the metaverse but not mention blockchain projects? (Show a 2 second clip of someone typing numbers on Coinbase doesn’t count)

    • Abram Carroll

      March 22, 2022 at 5:32 pm

I’m not aware of any blockchain projects that don’t look like scams.

Trillion Dollar idea: inexpensive HMDs (AR/VR glasses) with low power consumption. How: all heavy lifting is done server-side with Quantum or supercomputers. The data is then sent to the glasses which simply decode and upscale the streamed content. They wouldn’t need much graphical power and therefore use very little battery vs having all the processing power onboard.

    • Abram Carroll

      March 22, 2022 at 5:23 pm

That is the plan, and has been since the beginning. Distributed game servers are needed as latency needs to be low and it will take time to build that infrastructure out.

    • Apparently Worshipped

      March 22, 2022 at 6:51 pm

Probably just another way for gov officals and investment holders to abuse people’s freedom through neural link wbci’s and telecommunication technologies to further influence civilian ideologies.

They do it now with formula based marketing, entertainment and politics. Or “propaganda” telling you how to think, feel and act about certain things so they can hide behind the agendas they push.

    • Abram Carroll

      March 22, 2022 at 10:26 pm

@Apparently Worshipped “neural link” is intended to give paralyzed people the ability to walk. Must be some elaborate trap for government and the elites to enslave the handicapped by forcing them to walk?

    • Apparently Worshipped

      March 22, 2022 at 10:54 pm

@Abram Carroll guidance systems aren’t for missiles. Pharmaceuticals aren’t used for biological warfare. Etc.

Considering the whole “Second Life” concept was already attempted and failed probably a decade prior just tells us that people don’t really learn from history.

    • Abram Carroll

      March 22, 2022 at 5:21 pm

I don’t see the connection. Just because people don’t want to look at videos of your vacation, doesn’t mean they don’t want to go on vacation. There is a difference between doing things and watching video.

This is closer to second life than internet 3.0. You’re perpetuating misunderstanding with these titles.

  11. Armando Monatti

    March 22, 2022 at 6:08 pm

the metaverse is not the next generation of internet. it‘s just the next generation of social media and gaming. most people use this term to describe everything in AR and VR. that‘s not right. I see the metaverse as virtual worlds to meet and play, not more.

and meta will not be the leader. there will be a lot of competition. currently, meta has the biggest market share in vr hardware, but that will change

  12. Armando Monatti

    March 22, 2022 at 6:10 pm

Best metaverse platforms atm: Decentraland, Sansar and VRChat

  13. Armando Monatti

    March 22, 2022 at 6:14 pm

what I‘m interested in the most: how can we make metaverses less addictive? vr has proven to be a lot more addictive than phones.

    • Cooleregg

      March 22, 2022 at 6:27 pm

Never tried VR , how is it?

    • Abram Carroll

      March 23, 2022 at 12:55 am

VR stays home, so I don’t see it as an issue until AR glasses in like 10 years. That is what is meant by living in it, like we live on our phones.

Yet another buzzword. And yet big companies are not interested in the well being of people, just profits like facebook. No mention was made of having ethical guides for industry or enforcing ethical principals.

My prediction: Meta verse will never be our future. An anti electronic revolution is coming. The better and more all consuming tech gets the more stressed out we get. I see people moving away from it. I certainly am.

    • Abram Carroll

      March 23, 2022 at 12:39 am

Is tech stressing you out, or is it reality?
There has been an anti-electronics community. They are called the Amish, and you are welcome to join them.

    • Be N S O N

      March 23, 2022 at 12:55 pm

I don’t think technology is the problem, it’s how it’s abused by corporations and grifters to hack people’s brains into addiction and mine as much of their data and money as possible. If an anti-tech revolution actually took off, we’d probably see the exact same kind of grifts and scams infesting VR (I refuse to use the term Metaverse) co-opt that movement as well.

Its a people problem, not a tech problem.

You hide behind a projection of the real world, a false Eden. All merely distractions from the terror around us. In the end, you will die only complicit. Whether you believe in their truth or not, you are still the instrument of your own destruction.

If anyone thinks this is the future of the internet , remember in the 60’s people thought we would be in flying cars right now

    • Abram Carroll

      March 23, 2022 at 8:37 am

The smart people were talking about the internet in the 1960’s. They connect the TX-2 at MIT to the Q-32 in Santa Monica via a dedicated telephone line with acoustic couplers. People who watched cartoons(The Jetsons) said we would have flying cars.

    • Be N S O N

      March 23, 2022 at 1:17 pm

@Abram Carroll The internet back then was purely a DARPA project, with no plans of making it publicly accessible. It’s a military project that slowly found widespread adoption and use by the public. The Metaverse/NFT/Web3 space on the other hand seems to be an entirely private venture to, for lack of a better analogy, make fetch happen.

Metaverse, for the non-gamers, is Dead On Arrival. Nobody (as in the masses) is asking for this kind of product, but hey, companies will be spending a ton of money and creating jobs for the next 3yrs until it goes bust. Fomo has companies scrambling to get a chunk of the bubble before it bursts…sound familiar.

@Mimerafm Reading books is anti-social. Those who spend all their time read books and educate themselves, end up socially awkward. Social media allows people to get the negative side effect while at the same time uneducating themselves.
