What I like the most about Transformers is that they just arent stopping
They have pretty much said everything and yet people are still writing stories about giant transforming robots fighting their war trough out the galaxy

Anyone else feel like the current younger generation are missing out on how cool Transformers action figures used to be? I mean some of the toys now are 3 clicks and they’re transformed. Couldn’t find any decent ones for my nephew so I had to start giving him my G1 – Armada collection

    • RayO1

      July 22, 2020 at 12:34 am

You haven’t been tuning into the Siege and Earthrise toys, have you?

  23. RayO1

    July 22, 2020 at 12:24 am

“There’s a civil war that’s been referred to many times throughout the transformer saga and “Siege” actually takes place on the last day of the civil war. And so it’s something that *fans have never gotten to see,* a period of time that’s pivotal in the Transformers legacy and story that finally has been put on screen.”

Um…does anyone else remember the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games? Pretty sure those games did that too.

I’m kinda sad that he didn’t address the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron Games that were actually part of the Transformers Prime continuity. Also I wonder if that they simply took the War for Cybertron title and used it for their show with or without knowing about the games (if they did know then they should address that fact). Those games were some of the best games I have ever played and without a doubt the best Transformers games ever made.

The thing about car robot/ RID is backwards. It was originally part of the Japanese G1 continuity, but was adapted as a stand alone reboot in the west, not the other way around.

  40. Benjamin Lewis

    July 22, 2020 at 9:14 pm

The guy isn’t wrong factually about but talks really surface level. I am unimpressed by the points this guy chooses to focus on, and that he says isnpires him.

How did this dude have more to say about prime wars than he did Animated? Prime wars was a nothing urgent that only a few hundred humans actually watched all the way through. Animated is a huge pillar of the fan interaction.

And no mention whatsoever of the comic books. I can stomach that he glossed over the video games, but the comics?? Every good idea started there, and was moved to animation later. Transformers comics have won writing awards lol

This guy may “get it,” but he’s not really neck deep in the franchise, is all I’m saying. Maybe it’s good that director isn’t just a massive geeky fan of all elements of Transformers.

  41. Jeremy Dennis

    July 22, 2020 at 9:34 pm

Wish there was more mention of the comics. So many epic stories in the various comic series.

Masterforce and Victory are my favorite generations. The Japanese had the best idea of mixing more humans with robots. I’d really love to see a live adaptation of these versions. Hopefully sometime soon.

  44. AGMARO15

    July 23, 2020 at 12:35 am

Cool. You (almost) gloss over the huge live action franchise and barely show and discuss FIVE films, only to heavily featured the dull 2018 spin off? The film isn’t beloved, it’s admired by all the G1 fans that can’t grow up and only want G1. They dislike how others can enjoy that generation/version. The spin off combines mostly g1 with the live action film aesthetics, so everyone can have their cake and eat it too. Cover everything, shut everyone up. However, you make a perfect point in stating the live action franchise is how a lot people got introduced to transformers for the first time. Perhaps you should have dug into that a little more in this lengthy video considering how large and popular the five films were and how they brought life back to transformers as a brand.

I had to stop watching when he started talking about the Michael Bay Transformer movies. I disagree with his views about them. I get the feeling that he’s just reading a script and saying good things to help promote the new cartoon. He’s not coming off genuine or sincere, to me. I could be wrong, may he really does think the Bay movies are good. That is his opinion. This also gives me bad vibes for the “Transformers: War For Cybertron” cartoon. I will watch and find out if I like it.

  76. Henry Louis

Its cool to see Matt Hullum talk about Transformers. I didn’t know he was a TF fan. I would like to see Sarge meet Optimus Prime, or Kup, or Ironhide. Also, Bumblebee is officially a reboot and is not connected to the other movies. And the Michael Bay movies are not beloved by everyone as as lot of people loath the Bay films. But I’m not gonna lie that the movies does have good spectacle and CGI that are all breathtaking.

It’s pretty simple really. There’s Transformers G1, the original and the standard by which all will forever be judged. There’s Transformers Prime, the only thing ever done that stands up to G1. Then there’s everything else. Oh, Michael Bay says he did something with Transformers a few times, but I have yet to see a Transformers movie Bay has done. He made some robot movies, but not Transformers movies.

I feel like G1 and stories that expand on that are my favorite. I appreciate the effect of a change in leadership Sentinal to Optimus, to Rodimus and I don’t know who the beast era leader of all Maximals was but we get Optimus Primal as a leader of a small team. I like how the evolution of the Pretender tech evolves them to their beast forms. And I love the fact that there are so many characters to tell stories about.
My second favorite was probably Transformers Animated because of its homage to everything that had come before it.
I think my least favorite are the movies and their contributions to the mythos. The physical Allspark, Unicron being Earth, Bumblebee not being able to talk… I like The Original 13 but not that they are Primes nor that Optimus is related to them.
In my opinion Prime is the title of a Cybertronian leader during his era, Not a status to add to the Original 13 cybertronians. They are their own legend.
I end my mini rant but I’ll point out there was no mention of RID 2015

As cool as this was, kind of bummed he didn’t talk about Transformers Victory or Zone. Victory being my favorite. And seeing how much he loved the idea of Unicron, he would have loved Beast Wars Neo, the follow up to Beast Wars II.

This is a fine overview of the Transformers franchise, but it skips over or doesn’t elaborate on certain major and minor parts of the franchise and has some misinformation. However, there’s no way you can condense the sheer amount of Transformers media into a 36 minute video.

I thought this guy was great until he talked about those god awful live action movies, they were so cheesy, all of the transformers look like giant cockroach robots,. Every one of the live action films were painful to watch, I do not see how he can say anything nice about them, he is obviously getting paid to say this stuff. Everything else about this video was great!

One thing for everyone to remember. Unicron IS NOT A TRANSFORMER. He IS one of the two Cybertronian gods. After their battle Pimus, Unicrons twin brother, Trapped his spark in a dormant planet hence the Unicron of 86′ and placed his own spark inside what we know now as Cybertron, giving life to the Transformers. Seeing Unicron manage to fully terraform his planetary prison gave Primus the idea for the “Transformation Cogs” The thing that’s not talked about nearly as much as it should and the reason Transformers: Cybertron fits into the Unicron Trilogy is because it’s centered around Primus.

I was sad to see Transformers Cybertron only get a passing mention as it was the one I grew up with and added a lot of interesting characters and expanding things like the cyber planet keys and adding beast planet and the giant planet which melded all the previous incarnations or transformers into one story.
