I wonder if this will pass building code regulations here in Florida?? We have very strict codes because of hurricanes.
Larry Parrish
July 24, 2021 at 9:09 pm
Based upon your highrises collapsing just from normal wear and tear, your standards obviously arenât strict enough.
Allaces305
July 24, 2021 at 9:16 pm
@Larry Parrish a lot in building code has changed in Miami since that building was built 40 years ago and the cause of that structural failure hasnât been determined yet.
Larry Parrish
July 24, 2021 at 9:22 pm
@Allaces305 , the cause? Failure to enforce required repairs in a timely fashion. Duh.

I live in a trailer park. I, like many, have had to replace most everything. New ones are going for 50k. But I dont see an upgrade in the quality! QUALITY is the key word hereâŚthicker walls, better windows, doors, flooring etcâŚ/ so YES!! the box houses look like better quality and are built w the standards of a real house, not trailer parts. The manufacturers want us to refer to our trailers as Modular Homes. Then build them as such! For example all the windows ate different sizes..? I see know why people just tack sheets up. And then there is the Mobile Home Depot Store to meet mobile home specs. You cant even go to say a Home Depot to buy a real front door. If these unfolds have real home measurements, and real ceiling heights etcâŚthen yes Iâd rather live in one instead! Zoning might be a problem? Will the future be like a trailer park where we rent the lot? My lot rent is now over 700, 8 years ago it was 553âŚjust saying
âŚsharing my story and curious. I think they are a great thing for society.

I sure hope they have wind and weather tested these?
Doesnât it still need a concrete pad/ foundation as well as sewer & power hook ups?
I still think there is strong thinking behind using the millions of steel shipping containers for homes like Iâve seen in Japan

I love the tiny homes
They are the homes for the future with Solar panels for the harsh winters and cooking..
BECAUSE the fuel charges will get worse
AND the taxes on large houses⌠WITH THE DEMONIC Democrats and all the weak party leaders who think of themselves and not the people *** tbere will be lots of food shortages..
GET A TINY HOUSE WITH A LITTLE LAND TO GROW YOUR OWN BASIS FOOD**AND COLLECT YOUR RAIN WATER THEN PURIFY IT BY BOILING ** BECAUSE THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING **BIBLICAL PROPHECIES ARE COMING TRUE BEFORE OUR VERY EYES ** AMEN

They would have almost no resale value or greatly diminished until this became more mainstream. Not sure if the cost per unit is low enough for FEMA. Iâm all for lowering the cost of housing but I built a 20Ă20 addition 8 years ago for the same price. Wish them luckâŚ

These will become a successful niche product assuming their build quality is in line with their cost. They do have rv trailers and park model mobile homes as stiff competition, the rv trailers often times cost far less, can be setup in less time, donât require any type of foundation and can be towed by a normal pickup truck or large suv. It also depends on how financing works with these fold up homes, I doubt theyâll qualify for a mortgage due to how mobile theyâre (similar to how single widespread can be more difficult to mortgage) but it also wonât qualify for an rv loan.

50k is the starting price for the house you still have to work the details with your county in regards to power and water hook ups and getting cleared and approved. 50k can easily become 100k.

July 25, 2021 at 11:55 pm
Not to mention the lack of any regulation being followed on building code, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. This product is a mere scam and nothing else.

50k is kinda alot for something with no basement no plumbing, no anything, besides a bundle of plastic and wood⌠yes houses cost 60k+ but you get land and an actual house not something that can be seen as an expensive tent

Traditional building methods are very expensive. Yes but we need full sized modular family homes that are factory built and the modules simply bolted together on site. They could use new lightweight composite materials that are much stronger and have higher insulation values.

$50,000 for 20âx20Ⲡhome is $125 per square foot not counting the land, delivery cost, utilities hook up? In some parts of the country that would be cheap. In the midwest where I live thatâs about the going rate for new home construction. Lumber prices and other items have risen a lot since Covid though.
