What if animals like dogs, ferrets, mice and raccoons could help sniff out the next pandemic? Exploring the science of smell, neurobiologist Glen J. Golden delves into the development of a “mechanical nose” that could detect diseases by identifying specific odor profiles. Until that technology is fully developed, he explains how we can train humanity’s furry allies to identify illnesses — and help stop the spread in its tracks. (Recorded at TEDxMileHigh on June 24, 2023)

“The next pandemic” ? The current COVID pandemic is still raging on and dogs could be useful for testing, and a lot in general could be done to mitigate it.

Often it is not about training the dog to alert, it is training the humans to see the dog alerting. If a dog loves you it will alert for blood sugar by nature.
@wolfgrin

Good response. Not by nature although there are a few anecdotal stories that suggest this could be true. But usually through inadvertent behavior modification.

Can they sniff up the Gain of function reasearch before they create a new virus? Why would you need a dog to do that?
Darpa denied funding to create a corona virus at the wuhan lab because the risk of creating a pandemic. One can do research even without Darpa funding.
Why the scientists reaponsible for millions of deaths, and trying to cover it up, isnt facing a nurmberg trial is beyond me

Try and get them to find and isolate the thing we say causes pandemics first. Clearly we can isolate and identify it so let the dogs give it a go.

Dogs have interesting brains worth looking into we must also invest in learning more about our own brains?
I am particularly intrigued by how learning more about psychology can help us create a profound philosophy about life so we can have better outcomes. One you are done do check my recent upload

Well, there wasn’t a pandemic in 2020, so all of this is moot.
The powers that be have no interest in a reliable disease dectector. They misused PCR testing to create fake numbers, as it does not detect “disease”, but only genetic material that usually is of no danger to the host nor is detecting this material in a host indicative of transmisability as the tests also showed positive for remnants of infections the body has already dealt with.
So basically, no government would buy your dog idea, because then it would be impossible to fake a pandemic again.

Animals would have to love us unconditionally. If they saw us for who we are, they’d say screw em, tell you all the contaminated samples were OK, drain the toilet of water, and go tree a cat. Who saw us for us, from day one and are contemptuous that it took the dogs so long to catch on.
