You should have mentioned luxury Smartwatches like the MontBlanc or the Tag Heuer Connected.

I have Galaxy Watch Pro 5 and it lasts right at 4 days for me, but I turned off the constant heart rate and blood oxygen sensors. Funny that it last as long as my previous Galaxy Watch that was 5 years old, but I like the design, the OS and features better.

Amazafit makes awesome smart watches, too. My Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 died after 1 year. Samsung wanted to charge me $180 to repair it. So I declined and bought the Amazafit T Rex pro.

@noblecollins9549  that sucks! Mine last a while without having to charge it. I haven’t turned anything off and it’s working fine. I guess every product can be hit or miss.

I am a big fan of the Apple Watch but the price increases over the last few years for non-us customers are getting hard to justify a upgrade.

Garmin Fenix is way much better full pack of features and super long battery. Been using Fenix 5 for the past 5 years and still going strong. Never once I change the battery and still last 5 days with one full charge. Worth every penny and like what Bob Barker say “the price is right” 🤭

I don’t like wearing my watch when I’m sleeping. Sleep tracking is a useless feature for me but the step counting, blood oxygen, and the heart rate monitor, and being able to check my phone is what I need. Plus, I’m kinda too deep into the Apple ecosystem. Yes I know I’m a sucker. So I’m probably going to get an Apple Watch. Yes I know, I’m a sucker. lol

I have the Garmin 955 and love it but it’s more of a runners watch that does everything else as a bonus.

my apple watch series 3 broke so the day before the series 8 was announced I got the 7 for $100 off and I do not regret it one bit. I got the bigger size and can actually see the GPS on the watch as I drive or see who sent a message without looking away from the road at all. With pretty much ever battery draining feature on and a 3 hour work out fully tracked and worn through out the night I get a whole 24 hours out of it and since it supports fast charging it only charges for an hour at most while I shower and its back at 90%. (I keep my watch between 15-90% charged). I recommend it but if you do not need the always on screen and the other higher end features the SE is an amazing watch. I have a friend who ownes one and after playing with it for a bit I know I would be more than happy if it was my only option.

Still rocking a Pebble 2 HR and proud of it. Battery life is almost a week. Screen is always on. I hope you will consider this aspect in future reviews.. the joy of “buttons” on a smartwatch! This may be a personal preference, but I prefer buttons to a touch screen. And I think I am not the only one.

2 days is abysmal. Lots of modern smart watches last a week or even three weeks. Check out amazfit GTR4

    • Midnight

      December 20, 2022 at 1:09 am

@Damian there are pros and cons to every watch and the ultra definitely isn’t perfect lol

    • OW

      December 20, 2022 at 1:34 pm

@Damian amazfit can’t do half of the stuff that the Apple Watch, let alone Apple Watch ultra can. Other brands sacrifice functionality, app options and UI fluidity for battery life. If I had the Amazfit I’d throw it on the charger every night like my Apple Watch or my Galaxy Watch 5

Lexi I’m stuck. I hike in the mountains and used my Apple Watch 7 and it died right at the end of the hike. I love topo maps and looked at getting Garmin. However, can’t I just look at a topo map from my phone? If so, there’s no need for me to get a Garmin because the HR tracking isn’t as accurate as Galaxy or Apple Watch. If so, what hiking apps would you recommend?

    • Lexy Savvides

      December 20, 2022 at 2:39 am

Two things! Heart rate sensor accuracy is somewhat dependent on wrist size, positioning on the individual but generally speaking Garmin is really good with accuracy (at least on the two models I mention here). But yes you totally can just look on your phone, it’s more the convenience of having that right on your wrist. I’ve used AllTrails and TopoGPS before and they are good (for phone) but I am sure there are plenty other great ones I haven’t tried!

    • Mdogbrown

      December 20, 2022 at 10:37 am

@Lexy Savvides Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I will give Garmin another look then. If Garmin HR accuracy is good then it may be my best bet, considering I change mobile platforms often.

I would love if you could cover which of these watches work with CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitors) for diabetics. This would be a killer, must have, app if it would pair to an CGM arm sensor. The two mainstream CGM devices today are Dexcom and Freestyle Libre.

My favorite peice of tech, that has lasted multiple years is the Pebble smartwatch. I owned the Pebble Time Steel for 7 years and it does the main thing most people want from a smart watch. Yes I have bought newer technology, but only to go back to the Pebble. BTW gets around 8 days of battery life.

I wish you could carry or pin a smart tracker instead of wearing it as a watch. Its a pain to carry a phone when you want to track your steps.

    • Lexy Savvides

      December 20, 2022 at 5:49 pm

You can pin the Fitbit Inspire 3 to you! Just remove it from the strap and attach it to a clip, I think it’s about $29 from memory but I’m sure you could find a cheaper version online too

Garmin Venu 2 plus takes a lot of beating. It’s not perfect but it is great for exercise tracking, not bad for sleep tracking and has an incredible battery life. The Fitbit series is OK, especially for sleep tracking, but I think the best value of the bunch is the Charge 4, which does record floors (unlike the 5). i’ve also tried the Pixel watch but this disappoints with its small size and poor battery life.

Well those days was using sony liveview aka semi “smart” watch, got a Amazfit 1, now series 2 Nike Apple watch, didn’t goes back to any android base watches after that. So far apple watch is the gold standard in smart watch imo

If you’re obese, your belt is the most cost effective fitness tracker gadget. Otherwise, your times or your lifts are the most cost effective fitness trackers. For better composition, make sure you lift more. You want more detail, use 2 fingers to count your pulse for fifteen seconds and times by 4. HRMax 220- your age. 50%-79% general cardio, HIIT 80%+. But you know when you are in your HIIT zone because you tank fast unless you stop for recovery. Work the figures out once, and they’ll do you for the best part of a decade! They’re only approximations anyway. No battery, screen or OS required. It’s free.
