We know JBL’s second-gen portable party speaker brings the bass but how does it stack up against Ultimate Ears’ new Hyperboom? This is the heavyweight championship of portable Bluetooth speakers and someone’s gotta win.

UE Hyperboom is better for $400 in my opinion, Boombox 2 not worth $500 but it look better.

I’ll put it like this . You have to buy 2 of those UE Hyperbooms to get the power that is in the JBL Boombox or JBL Boombox 2 .
Usually you never judge a book by its’ cover but JBL Boombox 2’s cover has everything on it because that son started asking himself ,
would I really go half-mast with UE Hyperboom or go full blast with JBL Boombox 2 and to him it wasn’t even rocket science .

      @Bugheanu Mario
Isn’t it ironic how the JBL Boombox has bass coming out of both sides whereas the UE Hyperboom only has bass coming out of one side ? Just sayin` .

Okay so you OBVIOUSLY don’t have this speaker lmao because this thing is the truth. The hyper boom just sounds better period. If you had them in front of you there is no denying that the Hyperboom is king 😂 whatever you are smoking I need some of that because you done lost your mind.

      @Nick Salgado
First off , At least you got one thing correct and that is I don’t have that speaker . In fact , I don’t have either one .
Second , As far as that smoking comment , Let’s do away with making up lies about me because I disagree with you so that I don’t have to flag you .

The water resistance is preferred by many who have pools and such. You can literally let the JBL play in the pool without a care in the world.

You can’t lose with that JBL speaker.

Sure you can…that $500 tag is a huge price gouge for what you get. Two W-King D8’s would come close in performance to a single Boombox 2 for a total of $150.

@Jeff Valentine Add some ducktape to wrap them together, prewrite various excuses to cover for constantly charging a phone and 2 speakers at once, rehearse your reaction when some kid walks through the clump of wires you have holding this whole thing together and you got a party.

For that price, you can buy a PA speaker with Bluetooth that has a million times better sound quality and more DB’s with an internal battery

    • Marcel K

      April 25, 2020 at 10:26 pm

Which one for example? Existing portable PA speaker like the bose s1 and jbl eon one compact usally have a very bad sound, no deep bass and bad limiting..

I would rather get 2 anker motion+ for about 170$ and they would sound louder and better.

    • Jeff Valentine

      April 24, 2020 at 3:07 pm

That is a fairly accurate statement as I own a pair of Motion+’s. But I also own a pair of W-King D8’s which are my new favorite pair….they wipe my pair of JBL Xtreme2’s off the table.

@Jeff Valentine I haven’t heard about the W-king D8 before, they surely are extremely loud from the reviews I’ve seen !

Never been satisfied with UE. They seem like a brand for consumers who don’t know any better.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, love how this dude is talking up his son changing his mind like he wasn’t prompted.
Son “I like the JBL Better”
Dad “Are you sure it’s not just because you like how it looks”
    Son “ya”
Dad “Are you sure really listen hear how it’s cleaner sounding”
    Son “I guess so”
Dad “so the UE is better right”
    Son “ok”
    Dad “Winning!”

I used to work at a tech store in the airport … we sold both products… the jbl sounds décent but has jbls signature bass heavy signature

And I don’t like any of UE speaker’s it has a different sound of that then even their earbuds cut sounds tinny at higher volumes

    • Bugheanu Mario

      April 26, 2020 at 7:59 am

Mids and highs on boombox 2 are too extra..and no bass coming out after 80percent

  16. Devanand Shaji

    April 25, 2020 at 4:41 am

What if the boombox 2 had 20000mah battery?
    Biggest party ever!🔥

Hope boombox 3 will get it.

      April 26, 2020 at 8:20 am

@Bugheanu Mario Absolutely not even close when it comes to battery life lol boombox destroys the little hyperboom

  17. Sam Rowell

    April 25, 2020 at 4:49 am

I ordered both and wil keep one. The Boombox is here since yesterday and yes, it’s ok, the bass is fine but the highs aren’t too sharp sometimes it’s like the speaker is covered by a thin blanket, gets pretty loud and keeps stable tho. The Hyperboom will arrive in two days. From what I’ve heard and read so far the sound quality of the Hyperboom shall be clearer and the base goes deeper and punchier plus it gets 10 db louder. Am pretty hyped about the Hyperboom even if i only get it in 2 days 😅.

      April 26, 2020 at 7:59 am

I think u will keep the hyperboom:)

the Boombox 2 doesn’t have a smaller battery than the Boombox 1. they have identical batteries, just the capacity is measured differently.
