This recycle program is not applied for Apple Stores around the world. At least not here in Brazil. I have an old MacBook and I have just called Apple Store in São Paulo and there is no discount for purchasing any accessories in the store. Unfortunately

Use old iproducts to replace paper like sticky notes, calendars, and photos all over the house. They literally excel at that and can be run on airplane mode so even the old batteries hold up fairly well. Great for keeping track of notes. I use an old iPad for home maintenance notes and home maintenance calendaring.

The true reason we don’t recycle is because they overcharged us for the device and then they want to underpass for the old device so they can make triple the money taking it apart and selling the parts these phone companies are crooks coming and going

As far as I know Apple is just trying to remove those old phones from the market and destroy them.
That way consumers can only buy newer phones, not repair old ones with spare parts from the broken ones.

Everything apple does is calculated down to the last penny. They take that phone if old enough will scrap everything including the precious metals and rare earth materials. They take the metal frame and recycle it. The glass will even get recycled as well. The newer ones if in good shape may take it and refurbish it or send it to 3rd world countries and resell them there. They only will give credit at Apple as payment which lowers their cost even more.

I actually have wanted to repair my bootlooped LG V10. I’m just reluctant that the replacement board will bootloop again and I’m surprised the price for the board hasn’t reduced by much at Aliexpress. I still love the phone and wanna use it as a music device

Great advice. I have iPhones 3G (a single line crack in the screen); iPhone 4S, and 7Plus (both in good condition). All cluttering up a drawer. I also have two other iPhones that I use daily, iPhone SE 2 and an iPhone 11. My kids ask me often, why do I need 2 phones since I am retired. I guess I am just EXTRA. 😂
