Is it true that the Mac Mini M1 can handle only one Display ?

    • Rob Smith

      November 17, 2020 at 5:24 pm

The Mini can have 2 displays. One up to 6k through thunderbolt and one up to 4K through HDMI. MacBook Air and Pro can only use one display.

I like Dan Ackerman a lot. I think his delivery and his speaking voice as well as his mannerisms, which are very cool, but in this particular overview of the new Mac he seems a little bit tired or maybe he has a touch of cabin fever because he’s been in seclusion, wherever he is, for a long time with his family and who knows but I think he’s been quarantine too long so whoever’s got the the cure or vaccine for the virus please send it over to Dan and his family so that they can come back to wherever they wanna come back to for CNET. Love y’all.

    • *

      November 17, 2020 at 9:27 pm

Depends on if you want to buy a separate display or not.
For photo editing I would rather take the iMac since the integrated display is just 🤯.

  28. DCtraveler

    November 18, 2020 at 5:10 am

They should have 5 chip level for their Mac lines:
Air is up to 8 cores,
Mini and 13inch Pro up to 12 cores 16inch Pro up to 16 cores
    iMac up to 18 cores,
Mac Pro up to 24 cores
I don’t think put the same chip in different computers is a good thing for users as well as for their own marketing

    • Melvin

      November 18, 2020 at 6:09 am

But this chip is capable and it’s far better than the models they replacing. Why 12, 18 or 24 cores when 8 cores give better performance than outgoing versions? Marques told in his video and I agree with him, from now on RAM, cores and other stuff won’t matter on Macs. It will be just the performance. I don’t see Apple introducing more cores in upcoming macs for next 2 years. I think they will just replace some or all battery saving cores with high performance cores and add gpu support for rest of macs. These chips are already fastest. No need to add more cores for now.

    • DCtraveler

      November 18, 2020 at 7:07 am

@Melvin you can’t be seriously suggesting all Mac line up using the same 8 core chip are you ? It is good ! But not that good, when you have to handle 4-12 streams of 8K or 4K ProRes editing or very complex 3D modeling or complex scientific simulations ! You need computer more powerful than M1’s 8 core. that is why you need 16 to 28 cores. That is why there are Mac Pro in the line up. Yes specs is not important, if it is not optimized with software but there are tasks real Professionals do that even the well optimized M1 Mac won’t cut it. To those super complex tasks Optimization can only take you so far, then more hardware becomes a necessity.

    • Melvin

      November 18, 2020 at 7:40 am

@DCtraveler lol that’s not what I meant. I said 2 years. obviously raw performance matters and cores matter. I just said that these chips are fine for the time and I don’t see apple adding more cores. look how much the models get improved by these m chips. This jump is more than enough. And these laptops even beat their MacBook Pro 16 inch which is the most powerful pro portable machine but that one still better because it has gpu, these ones don’t. what I meant was they will replace those with same chips maybe and just add egpu support and I think it should be enough of upgrade for now. I don’t see apple jumping too far ahead. Their new chips already come close to their best laptop now without egpu so they might just add support for that. and then as u said, will keep adding more stuff. but I think, for next 2 years, these chips are fine.

    Hello Dan (and everybody),

I’m trying to get something done at Apple, Feedback is not helping (as a single person).

It’s Messages app on all devices. You probably using it too, but one BIG BIG flaw is that you CANNOT archive conversations.. only 2 things I can do, let me keep hundreds of conversations clutter up and making it a chaos, or delete precious conversations forever…

Like whatsapp (boooo!) – you can just easily archive it.

    – What really need to be done (and that certainly will help) is that all the subscribers of big communities like you have make will start to send feedbacks to apple about this. And maybe you will or take it in consideration to speak about it an episode and even maybe ask other people who do the same as you and where you have contact with, to do the same and start this thing, Apple needs to get attention for this and solve this finally once and forever.

thank you very very much!! – and everyone who reeds this and feels the same! please start filling in some feedbacks.

Hi nice video ! One question I’m a student and want to buy the new MacBook Pro but i don’t know if it’s necessary to buy it with 256gb or with 516gb

    • Rod Herzstrom

      November 18, 2020 at 2:02 pm

I will say go with the 256gb and buy an external hdd its wayyy cheapear.. Any way I was also doing some tests with apps on my channel with the m1 macbook pro if you want to check it out

    • Benjamin Marquez

      November 18, 2020 at 2:09 pm

@Rod Herzstrom The 256GB would fill rapidly with download some apps and word, PPW, excel pdf and that type of stuff? I also edit 2 types per week I edit some documents with vector graphics. So I can save the apps and main archives that I mentioned on the computer and the extra stuff save in the external memory.

    • Rod Herzstrom

      November 18, 2020 at 2:16 pm

@Benjamin Marquez when I was a student I managed to finished a bachelor and a master with a 128 GB Macbook Air 2014 hahaha but yeah obviously I couldn’t install many things and carried an external hard drive. Now the thing is that there’s a price of 200$ or more to get the 516GB MBP… I dind’t want to pay that :p

    • Benjamin Marquez

Honestly, most people would be better off with a Mac mini, especially since most people truly do not need the portability. Sure, you can not modify the Mac mini anymore (that hurt me to be honest), but Apple is truly giving you a bang for your buck with it, as opposed to ripping you off with both the MacBook Air and Pro. Most of us already have a 4K tv in our homes to use with it, and getting a wireless keyboard that will most likely be better than the MacBook keys, you are still saving so much more money.

Also, I’m excited to try Logic Pro on the Mac mini.

Apple is a great company with great products but Apple doesn’t
listen their costumers regarding criticism ..For example ; many people
complains about the low resolution on the Laptop webcam 720
resolution ,also removing the SD card port ( bad idea ) etc….. It’s

The biggest downside with YouTube reviewers reviewing these devices is they are mainly use it for video editing! And reviews video editing capabilities . I , as a regular user, never edit videos on daily basis and i don’t care about video editing that much!
