A Blazer just doesn’t go with EVERYTHING! Also why is this Smart Speaker returning?

You know it actually does make more sense to buy the small ones. I just got an Ecobee thermostat and was toying with the idea of buying more smart sensors which are basically $50 each, instead I can get HomePod minis for $100 or less each and get speakers too.

i agree with you 100%. two smaller mini’s vs 2 reg sized homepods is a huge price difference. IMO, the mini visually looks better compared to the very bulky and bland colors of the larger size.

HomePod and AppleTV are quite the duo together. Also both serve as HomeKit hubs so, good excuse to start building your smart home up 😉

I am super jazzed to see a new larger HomePod again. It definitely is welcomed and I’m sure sounds amazing. However I’m not sure that the new smart home features and two fewer tweeters and two fewer microphones justify that price. Maybe if it had a display that could show information or if it were also a Wi-Fi router… Maybe. Hopefully it does not go the way of the original.

Fewer drivers does not mean worse performance. Speaker drivers vary quite a bit in the quality, as do microphones. These could be significantly better quality drivers that cost more to produce.
Unfortunately, most people aren’t knowledgeable regarding speaker design so they’re not going to understand this.
For all the talk regarding features on these devices… as an audiophile, I just want an amazing speaker that easily plays Apple Music. Smart home tech isn’t for everyone and may not even be all that secure.

@Cujobob I completely agree, but I seriously doubt they are. I really do hope I’m wrong.

I know A LOT of YouTubers/people were sent these speakers for review, this is the conclusion/conclusions I’ve came to,but honestly if all your devices/life revolves around Apple/Siri,Amazon/Alexa,Google,the decision, should PROBABLY be based more around that vs sound quality, but I think this is the order of sound quality/ 1st through 4th place and I think 5th place is a tie,but you need to put this speaker head to head/against the 1st place winner, the *Denon Home 350*,it uses Alexa, the 2nd place winner, the *Bose Home 500*,its more versatile/it can use Alexa and Google, the 3rd place winner, is the *Echo Studio*,this speaker obviously uses Alexa, the 4th place winner, the *Sonos Five*,it doesn’t have a voice assistant though,so that MIGHT should knock it out of the running,it CAN use WIFI though and cables, and I think the *Sonos Move* and *Apple Home Pod* are neck and neck/tied,sound quality wise for 5th place, the Sonos Move uses the Google assistant, this is how I think these speakers should be rated, but I’d like you to test all of these and tell me what you think.

This is not a review. It is an overview of the device. A review would comment on how well it works. This just describes what it does per Apple.

I watched a few other reviews and they said the exact opposite regarding the sound. They said that you can’t really tell the difference. They did a blind comparison and most people picked the OG HomePod! The clearer spoken voice on podcasts for example are because of the newest 16.3 HomePod update. I’m good with my OG HomePods!!

Most people preferred the New HomePods, however they are very similar. There’s more improvements on the new HomePod that make it a better choice to buy the new one instead of the old ones.

Have you seen the price of a great sounding pair of wireless bookshelf speakers, these might actually be a bargain.

no ability to put spotify as default is a big deal

I agree the option should be available. But Spotify doesn’t have lossless audio or atmos if I’m not mistaken so that’s why o stick to Apple Music.
