How cost go down when the manufacture almost none of their essential hardware parts? Tell me you want to be Android without telling me.

Huh why would they? Lol they are absolutely dominating the market without even having a decent AI.

      January 30, 2026 at 4:35 pm

@XKeyscore124because of their loyal customer base, fact is they’re dependent on Samsung. People and market dynamics change and that’s the threat to Apple long term.

    • @XKeyscore124

      January 30, 2026 at 5:46 pm

@bbenchmark_1909its a deep two way dependency. Apple have other suppliers for panel, nand and ram but yes Samsung have the latest and better yields. Samsung would lose massive revenue without apple. They make more money supplying apple than with selling their own smart phones and tablets.

@bbenchmark_1909Here’s someone saying the exact same “dissertation” as someone from 1993 or 1994. Your position is Economics 101, and eventually all companies’s customers shift or move on, even if it takes 150 years, like it has for some classic beverage and food companies. Apple is more dependent on Samsung than I would like to see, like in OLED screens (although they have some other suppliers for those now – the foldable screen will be Samsung, but if the demand grows for that product, Apple will add other suppliers) and memory or storage chips. We’ve seen Apple make cell modem and WIFI chips, so we’ll see what they decide to do (or not do) regarding Samsung, Hynix, Micron etc. Of course, Apple haters have been around for 50 years, predicting their “doom tomorrow, next month, or next year”. Frankly, who really cares? Just buy a different company’s products and “your good to go”.

What happened? China introduced a smartphone subsidy, that’s what happened. It’s a shame these analysts don’t know more.

    • @Needglory23

      January 30, 2026 at 3:58 pm

The subsidy was good for Android and local Chinese phone companies. They chose to buy the IPhone instead…

    • @Jnr-x97

      January 30, 2026 at 4:21 pm

@Needglory23 Subsidy also applies to Apple.

    • @dovmerrill804

      January 30, 2026 at 10:27 pm

@Jnr-x97Well, without knowing it, you just answered your own question, and deflated your own argument in the process. The Chinese “subsidy” apparently applied to any Chinese citizen buying a cell phone. Sure, Apple benefited with 38% China revenue growth because of it. But what about the other (Chinese and South Korean) cell phone makers? How much revenue growth did they see due to the subsidy?

    Rising costs they say.

They’re the ones milking the public, causing inflation, then talk of rising costs.

  8. @mehdiadlany

Apple already has the most expensive RAM/storage upgrade. 200 bucks for each increment is already exorbitant. May Apple incur loss of sales if they try to milk consumers even more!
