So Google is currently running 2 beta programs. First is for Android 12L (which I’m using), and the other is the less-stable Android 13? Has this ever happened before or am I going crazy?

Google needs better security in the app store. If ur device becomes hacked a developer can modify ur current apps u have and make triggers. My Galaxy note has been hacked for over a year because the software and the carrier and settings can be hijacked then turn in to a man in the middle attack.. I left Apples iPhone 11 pro max cause I had no control over the preset settings. I switch to Android and get hacked the minute my phone was activated. So this 13 version is nothing to jump up and down over. But then again not everyone has neighbors that hack u 24/7
    Thanks.

I used to be able to pull the notification shade down and touch wifi and it goes on or off, now i have to pull it down touch it, it then opens a wifi pop up and the bottom of the screen and i then have to touch a toggle to turn off and on, too many extra steps, i also hate having to spend a few brain cells and seconds extra to find the toggle cos it keeps moving as below it its scanning wifi, and adding and removing stuff and adjusting the toggle up or down the screen, its like that cos wifi and data are now in one place for everyone, but its far more inconvenient, as you could still before click and hold the wifi to get go to that setting, and you cant go back to two seperate buttons to easily turn either on or off quickly like i used to, that is my main annoyance.

    March 12, 2022 at 3:40 pm

I think that material-you would be discontinued in the future because what is the point of coloring every part of the UI with the shades of the same color and end users not being able to identify or distinguish the icons, buttons or anything thus adding to the time to do a task. It was like my entire home screen became a forest and no tree indistinguishable.

    • Nick

      March 13, 2022 at 1:29 pm

there’s plenty of people who jailbreak phones and add ROMs. one of the popular things to do is color shift your icons. they may color shift the icons all towards purple, so the icons stay the same, and you can easily distinguish between apps very easily. It’s a nice look for those who want to spend the time to do it. Now, you won’t have to if that’s why you were jailbreaking in the first place.
And it’s an option, not a requirement.

    • Liam Kennedy

      March 13, 2022 at 11:39 pm

That’s a really dumb way to look at it

It doesn’t do anything anywhere near as drastic as you make out to be

If you can’t find things because of a few parts of the UI changing colour then that’s your own problem

The icons aren’t mandatory you know, you don’t have to use them

    March 12, 2022 at 3:47 pm

It is insane to be developing a operating system that most people who have android won’t see for forever. Android 12 is out only for what 10% of devices now. I’m glad I don’t live by Android.

Could anyone give me a use case for per app language. I could only think of if you have a child and your child only knows one language let’s say English, whereas you use 2 languages, native language is Spanish whereas secondary language is English. And you want the apps your child uses to be in English, whereas the apps you use in your native language.

    • Luuk Domhof

      March 13, 2022 at 11:00 pm

I’m from the Netherlands but my phone language is English. I’m a developer and I find it easier to find settings or even follow tutorials if need be.

However, some of the apps I use for my daytime job really aren’t made for English speakers, so I’d love to switch them to Dutch.

It’s a niche use case for sure, but I’m definitely going to use it when the feature is released.
