Are there new Kindles coming out soon? The last Kindle Oasis version was released about 2 years ago and I just bought my wife one… but it doesn’t even have USB C and I’m still in the 30 day window. She likes it though

Why do they all have such huge bezels? They look like they’re from 2015

The one thing it should have is the one thing it doesn’t have, a dashboard to control all Alexa compatible smart home devices accessible from home screen

Its not made by an advertising company whos sole business model is to profile your every breathing moment and sell that info to anyone willing to pay for it. Sold. So long as its not made by Google or Facebook then its worth considering.

    • renndar

      May 13, 2021 at 1:30 pm

It’s just made by a company that’s trying to profile your every breathing moment to sell you everything, all the time, for the sake of the money-hoarding billionaire (ex)CEO who ripped off his employees and prevented them from unionizing. Personally, I’d rather not have a device in my home that’s purpose is to sell me things than one who’s mission is to provide useful information.

Also. Too much use of hands. Visually distracting and takes away from the information

  25. zunedog31

    May 13, 2021 at 12:24 pm

These devices should not be used in private spaces, let alone one’s own home.

  26. RealityCheck

    May 13, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Or… just get a tablet and set one up as a “smart” display

  27. roguegeek

    May 13, 2021 at 5:04 pm

But do they still have the awful “Alexa for your day” screen that can’t be turned off?

    • Richard

      May 13, 2021 at 11:37 pm

That’s why I like Google Hub or Hub Max. No annoying screens popping up.

    • roguegeek

      May 13, 2021 at 11:39 pm

@Richard That is a plus, for sure, but the problem with those is the support isn’t fully there, Google makes changes to the APIs too much that things “break” and need to be reconfigured more than they should be, and (since it’s Google) it’ll all eventually end up in the Google graveyard.

Still pissed about the spot price. With the sale you can now get a 8″ and 5″ show cheaper than the 1″ spot.

A 2 MP Camera isn’t that bad for video calling. Most modern laptops don’t offer higher resolutions on their cameras.
