How do you find common ground when people disagree? Opportunity builder Anuj Gupta and Visit Philadelphia CMO Neil Frauenglass discuss why democracy needs debate and why we all have more political power than we think. They explore whether society is divided or just disconnected, how local action makes a difference and what it takes to rebuild trust when we can’t even agree on truth itself. (This conversation is part of “Idea Knock Down,” a series where two people with different perspectives take on big questions — one block at a time.) (Recorded on June 12, 2026) Visit:

Just like a toxic relationship of domestic violence and abuse which leads to murders. Its designed to keeps the public infighting as the oligarchs are the puppets masters seizing influence- power- control- demand submission and obedience of its population through behavioral processes of the daily lives- straight out of the movie wall- E. Within a minute, he’s advertising for his company, using a sob story of an old grandma.. Kinda reminds me of the Ring camera story during the superbowl (Amazon just cares about your poor little dog, definitely not wanting to gather more of your personal data to get you to spend more)
This guy is an emotional manipulator rather than a scientist, or someone who ACTUALLY cares about your grandma. Shame on TED for promoting advertisements for a corporation rather than providing education, like TED was founded on.

To answer your question 15:00, there exists a role for cameras on public roads. It just shouldn’t start with “ask for forgiveness rather than permission”.
These are public funds that are being used on experimental tech, and WE are the subjects of the experiment. How fucked up is that.

These are private databases all this information is being stored in, and if/when Flock goes under, what happens to that data? Just look at what happened with 23 and me, all that data collected (in fairness, it was willing participants who provided the data) but that data, after the company went bankgrupt, was just sold off to some rich dudes, and eventually used by health insurance companies in the US to raise your health insurance rates, based off your genetics.

We’ve had traffic cams for decades, and nobody complained about that – but that’s because they aren’t using AI (which can work 24/7 and equivalent to 2-5 humans) to gather data on us. Not to mention Flock “Safety” not caring about reported major security vulnerabilities.

The list goes on and on. Having some tech bro come in and surveil an entire country is not the way to make us “safe”, but rather, make him rich at our expense.

Why do you have to find common ground when people disagree?
Why do you need to debate?
Why don’t people already have made up their minds, that they need to watch a debate to decide which side to agree with?

Everybody has made up their minds and nobody is going to change any minds by “discussing” or “debating.”

If someone hasn’t made up their minds, that person’s intelligence need to be examined.

To answer the title question, yes, people are divided. No, they aren’t disconnected. They are divided because people have opposite and mutually-exclusive interests.

Speaking out has no value, let’s be clear about that. The impact of working within the established framework is nigh non existant. Only with the ability to disrupt one way or another a councilmember will maybe not disregard said writing right away.

It’s easy to talk in platitudes, but issues are important. How does Ted feel about unfettered education, transgender men competing in women’s sports and using women’s bathrooms, DEI as a focus for college acceptance and corporate hire and , voter ID and verified voter roles, eliminate government fraud, lowing the taxes in each community by standing up to the NEA and the escalating educational costs, allowing public debate, backing up the police instead of defunding them, and not being shouted down by crazy liberals, etc..need I go on. The people who cause the problems shouldn’t be allowed to debate how to solve them.

For most of my life I searched for the right way to manifest, without success. Then I came across Vera Hart’s archetype quiz. Out of curiosity I filled it in, and the result hit the core of who I am. I’ve approached things very differently ever since. A recommendation for anyone who feels stuck.

Why Countries Should Measure Dreams and Ambitions (Just like GDP) | Lance Katigbak | TED

Drawing on a nationwide survey across the Philippines, consumer researcher Lance Katigbak makes the case that countries should keep track of their citizens’ ambitions and aspirations. His radical proposal: What if governments didn’t just track GDP but also started measuring dreams? (Recorded at TED@BCG on October 23, 2025)
