Turns out, your brain is freestyling daily #TEDTalks

In this ode to improvisation, musician and comedian Reggie Watts beatboxes, raps, loops his own rhythms and reflects upon the everyday power of turning the mundane into magic. After all, he says, we’re all just making it up as we go along.

    I like that statement about every live convo being an improvisation.

      It sounds cool in theory and is entirely false. Feed everything you’ve ever said and done to an AI model and it will be able to predict anything you’ll say and do in any given situation with a 99% accuracy.

      @lamososThat sounds cool in theory and is entirely false.
      Feed everything you’ve ever said to an AI model and it will not be able to predict anything you say and do in any given situation with 99% accuracy.

      We would literally have to simulate you, and your entire environment, both in their non-deterministic physics – which is not possible not even in theory.

      @lamosos Well that’s objectively false

    Autistic, I try to rehearse every interaction I have before it happens. I am truly horrible at improvisation, lol.

    This is what happens when you’re being glazed enough to allow your “creativity” to spill way outside of your area of expertise.

      Baby, Reggie is telling jokes. He’s not taking himself as seriously as you’re trying to take him. You’ve missed the point entirely.

    Well. Doesn’t work for all. I, for instance, often have huge problem existing even during some mildly-important conversations. I learned to ignore it to some extent, but I still notice that both thoughts and air slows down exponentially as pressure grows. Although I don’t notice anyone else feeling any pressure in some of these situations.

Drawing on a nationwide survey across the Philippines, consumer researcher Lance Katigbak makes the case that countries should keep track of their citizens’ ambitions and aspirations. His radical proposal: What if governments didn’t just track GDP but also started measuring dreams? (Recorded at TED@BCG on October 23, 2025)
