I was considering a flip phone, then I found out how few years those phones last. Some people having issues after one year so I decided to just get a S26. Previous phone lasted 9 years.

Samsung is in the same cartel as Micron and SK Hynix. Samsung is responsible for you not being able to buy RAM and storage.
@NeonVisual

No, the issue is wealth hoarders and money addicts are outcompeting you for resources because you fail to properly tax wealth.
It’s only going to get worse from here on out.

If you have phone insurance which most people do now your fine. Samsung will basically fix any issue for little to no cost or send you a new device and I know multiple people still rocking flip 6 without any issues

I would not spend $1899.00 or $2,099.00 plus tax on a flip phone or foldable phone. I live on three years old Nordhavn-63 trawler it’s a boat it’s over all length is 62′ 6″ ft. Got the Nordhavn new. I’m now 49 years old. I’m in Europe bouncing around. I have an iPhone and it works.

I have an iPod Pro 13-inch on the boat. I got two years ago. It has wireless and cell phone on it. It also has one terabyte storage. I need a foldable phone to do what again I ask.

Biggest irony is apple nailing the crease problem, but Samsung still failing despite being the display supplier to Apple! Samsung just hasnt put in extra effort into this…
@anthonymaurice187

We are asuming Apple has solved the crease issue. Until there’s an actual product, its all speculation at this point. As an Android user I hope Apple succeeds. Success means pushing the entire industey forward in that respect. However, physics is still physics so Ill wait until there’s proof of life.

classic shrinkflation, huge downgrade for the same price?
The Base Fold 8 is a Price-hike, Releasing a stripped-back, thicker device with downgraded cameras and a cheaper hinge at the original $3,099 AUD launch price of the Fold 7 means paying the exact same premium for noticeably worse hardware.
The “Ultra” Tax: Renaming the direct successor to the Fold 7 as the “Ultra” gives Samsung cover to bump the starting price up to $3,299 AUD+, taking advantage of component cost drops rather than passing those savings on.
Forcing the Upsell: By stripping key features like Flex Mode from the base model, Samsung intentionally makes the cheaper device unappealing so you feel forced to shell out $1,200+ more for the Ultra (the 7 is on sale for $2099 down from $3099aud), just to keep the standard flagship experience.
@pierro007

The z flip has known issues with the inner display going out due to the display cable stress with all the opening and closings. Went out 3 times for me within 3 months. I assume the fold likely has the same issue. Not worth the waste of time with warranty claims, setup, etc
@warriorplutotrent3827
July 23, 2026 at 2:59 pm
More overpriced phones. I’ll wait until these hit the street at about $800 in a couple of months😅I can’t imagine paying $1500+ for and old fold
